I said it right when it was released : Vaalmonica would have been a Tier 1 deck if Stardust hadn't arrived.

KOG with Vaalmo today: "Ugh, he's a meta abuser."
I understand why the Skill is frustrating—since it protects the scales—but we don't generate three cards across hand, field, and GY like other meta decks do.
I believe all future Pendulum decks should have scale protection. And I hate hearing players say that the Skill is what carries Vaalmonica.
Dropping down to a 20-card deck list, compared to the TCG's 40, is a huge advantage for Vaalmonica. So, the Duel Links version is superior for the deck. It’s decent elsewhere, but struggles to function in a 40-card format due to having few starters and relying heavily on "one-ofs."
The Skill provides consistency. We can run just one copy of Selettrice and one Field Spell, freeing up space for tech cards. It also offers removal when going second. It’s not quite on the same level as other Skills, though.
