Every time I brick going 1st I yell “ZUT ALORS!! Sacrebleu baguette Eiffel Tower!!” And every time I tribute over the opponents entire board with Baelgrill I say “OH HON HON!! Ci bon omelette du fromage arc du triomphe!! 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷👌🏻” and yes I took 3 years of HS French so I know le grammeureux est tres exactement!

Served up a 9-win streak with this suboptimal list. I only pulled 2 Concours and don’t feel like going through the box for the last which is why I’m playing 3 Voici La Carte which comes in handy going first. Going 1st, you generally want to open a Poissonniere or a way to get to her in order to end on the Lyrilusc. Opening Concours + Poisson can sometimes add a ritual + the Omni negate as well, but it’s very hand-dependent. There’s definitely a learning curve with understanding the ideal ways to pick apart certain boards, and also you’ll definitely hit at least one demotion due to going first & bricking three times in a row…c’est la guerre.

This deck absolutely cooks Despia, with or without a Kaiju to flambé the Tax Dragon, just keep in mind that both Concours targets are DARK Fairies and it also triggers Dramaturge to negate Poisson. It does great against Chimera, Strikers, Ra, and RDA so long as you bait out the Abyss negate, it’s ok against Utopia, Speedroid, and Gears depending on the hand & skill level of the player, and is dismal against ShadDOLLS and HERO. Also keep in mind that smart opponents can chain interaction to yours to fizzle out your Rituals tribute effects, so if you expect interaction it might be advisable to set Staff Recipe instead of Special.

I relish (hehe) any opportunity to play an interesting Ritual deck, especially if it has a generic skill so I can play as the #1 ritual girlie Alexis Rhodes! Plus, she kinda looks like Poissoinniere so in my headcanon Alexis’ mom is a French chef and that’s where she gets her love of Ritual monsters. Now if they could just come out with good Skills to tie in with the release of the remaining Vendread and Cyber Angel support, that would be awesome!
