Notes & Combos

Dinosaurs are expensive, but once you get the core you just add new support as it slowly comes out. Here is my third round of Dinosaurs, using the added support from Scarred Resonance. This deck can struggle with a bad hand or matchup, so the duel is often decided before it begins.

DECK CONFIGURATION

I went through a number of main and side deck options to figure out how to counter the meta. The configuration I had the most success with is the one shown here. Eariler in the event, I ran the skill "Dino Awakening", which I later sidelined for the skill "Avaricious Below", as longer duels against decks like Chimera and Sky Strikers, as well as losing out in card advantage was becoming too much of a problem vs Despia.

NOTABLE MATCHUPS

Despia's Dragon can be a hard card to out without draining your LP, and no amount of negates are going to stop your opponent from setting up their board. Ideally you will want to have MISC used the turn you go for an OTK.

Winning against Chimera can be done if you have two goals in mind: Lock down their GY using Abyss Dweller, and set up the OTK as fast as possible. Pentestag will help with this.

Utopia matchup can be handled easily with Ultimate Conductor Tyranno flipping their monsters before they can XYZ.

Ancient Gears have the worst machup against this deck. Flipping their monsters face-down with UCT prevents their biggest beatsticks from running over your monsters. Negating Ancieng Gear Fortress is essential.

Facing HERO decks can be annoying if you go first, but are a cakewalk if you go second. Just protect yourself during the main phase using MISC, get rid of Super Poly or bait it out with Linkuriboh, and flip everything face-down for a UCT sweep.

Sky Strikers can be annoying to deal with, but a win is not impossible if they missplay.

While this deck has a poor matchup against the two Tier 1 decks, it has a fighting chance against anything else.
