Notes & Combos

Taking a break from Madolche posting this time, since new B.E.S. support dropped and I just so happen to be one of the few B.E.S. fans in the world; they've been a pet deck of mine ever since Zelos and MK-3 released eight years ago. I've got a lot I want to nerd out about this time, so read on if you've got any interest in some Crimson Reaper 5 tier B.E.S. yapping.

First thing up though, I gotta address a negative in hopes that the right people see and possibly fix it. Why does B.E.S. Rush lock you out of Specialing the Gradius ships? Boss on Parade straight up has an effect we can't activate?? It legitimately feels like an oversight, like, why delay Type-L's release, but also make the card near useless anyway??? There's cool stuff I can't show off for this reason, it's just kinda sad.

Anyway, lets talk cards. First thing I have to address, for the love of god, PLAY MORE TETRAN! It's always been the best B.E.S. card behind Zelos for its removal and combo potential, and the new support has helped make it even better. Seeing people call it a Garnet and proceed to play 0-1 copies is giving me serious psychic damage.

Besides that, 3 copies of the new support and Zelos is standard, 1 Blaster is fine if you don't need R9NKs, 2 Boss Rush feels perfect, and you shouldn't go below 2 MK-3 imo, else you'll fold in longer duels, which B.E.S. has a habit of getting into. Crystal sucks **** but was just there for the extra Slave counter, and besides Armored Core (if the Skill gets changed), none of the other B.E.S. monsters should be used. Including MK-2. Please stop playing that bozo, it's such a **** card.

Don't be afraid of playing a Normal Summon; sure, you can't activate Boss Rush on the same turn, but you can still place one with Boss on Parade. Pathfinder has always been the B.E.S. NS of choice, and without talking about blending with other archetypes, this is still true in DL. I almost never found myself without Zelos, so the added consistency is well worth the occasional clunky Boss Rush.

Lastly for Deck building, you should try to play plenty of engine, unlike most other Decks. The worst hands this deck can produce are 99% of the time due to drawing 2-3 staples instead of engine cards. Droplet performed a lot better than BoE, play three if you own three since it also has synergy in removing Parade from your field. Worth mentioning that the deck is actually quite consistent; nearly every hand was good regardless of first or second, and I never drew unplayable either.

Public opinion is that the deck isn't worth it, but I had quite a different experience in my climb, and I'll certainly vouch for it. Even starting at Plat 1, this Speed KoG may be the easiest I've ever had, with 3 separate ~13 win streaks in Plat, and a 9 streak in Legend; the Winrate felt like 80%+. Still took 73 total wins though, because Speed Ranked just takes an unreasonably long time to KoG.

The deck's biggest weakness is unsuprisingly BoE. Droplet to an extent too, but it isn't usually as fatal. Still feels like a fair trade-off though, since in return you get to ignore nearly every other staple thanks to both Zelos and not relying on the GY. Shinobird is also a horrendous matchup that can sometimes feel like a guaranteed loss thanks to Amano-Iwato. Shaddoll prob sucks too because Winda, but I hardly played against it. Everything else feels like a solid winning matchup, most notably Blue-Eyes since they feel omniprescent right now.

Saved a ton of replays, lots of pretty fun duels this climb. There's a couple of misplays in some of them, but I'm still getting used to piloting the new stuff myself lol. The KoG ones mostly suck as usual, 'cept the rank-up game, that one was really good. Messed with the Duelist Pass a few times throughout, so some replays look different from each other. I'll prob return to standard Madolche posting soon, but for now, feel free to ask if you've got any burning B.E.S. questions.
