Notes & Combos

Hey to all my Altergeist fans out there, it's your favorite Altergeist main back at it again, Crimson Reaper 5. To be honest with you guys, I haven't bothered to hit King of Games since January 21, 2025 because that was the time when Altergeist died to powercreep and became an un-KoG'able deck due to trap cards being far too slow to be good. Infinite Impermanence wasn't in the game either, so yeah. Altergeist was not a good deck back then.

However, enter October 2025 when trap decks would get a Skill (Sanctuary of the King's Treasures) and oh boy this Skill is insane. It's essentially a pseudo Altergeist Haunted Rock in Skill form, which enables combo Altergeist instead of the outdated Linkuriboh set 3 pass Altergeist. Unfortunately, the Skill is only available on Odion, so that kind of crushed my dreams of playing Altergeist on the character the deck is meant for, my wife Ghost Gal. Maybe one day Ghost Gal will get a Skill dedicated to her deck because nothing irritates me more than playing anime decks without the intended character the deck is meant for.

Some new additions are that the new Odion Skill completely changes your endboard. Your new endboard is ending on double Hexstia, a Multifaker in the hand, and triple backrow, with your backrow essentially being fuel for more Hexstia negates. If we had Adminia, you'd end on that instead in the Extra Monster Zone over the second Hexstia. I did see Adminia and Malwisp leaked though so maybe they're close to releasing them. Otherwise, the double Hexstia endboard was really strong at doing what it does best. I am playing Eldlich the Golden Lord for easy spot-removal, which comes up a lot, and Sphere Mode to out full front-row enemy boards. The Eye of Truth was also really strong at essentially turning off enemy Skills and giving me hand knowledge on what to negate with Hexstia. Don't sleep on this card.

I also want to point out Infinite Impermanence as a new addition, a card played by Ghost Gal herself. It offers you a chance to interact going second, which is a plus. Finally, Magic Deflector turning my field into a pseudo Altergeist Protocol is also something to take note of as well.

I'll end here by saying that this climb was easy. I went on a 7 game winstreak to Legend 5 before losing to Swordsoul then went undefeated straight into King of Games with a 98% winrate, only losing twice in that run due to Blue-Eyes hard opening Nibiru against me, a card that kills this deck. Happy Halloween and cheers!

If you want to check how to play this deck, check my YouTube. My past five duels were against Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Urban Kaiba), Eldlich (Odion), Resonator (Jack Atlas), Vaylantz (Sylvio), and the KoG duel Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Urban Kaiba). I'll provide the KoG duel here, but if you want to see the rest, it'll be on my YouTube (Crimson Reaper 5). If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck in your climb!
