Notes & Combos

I have grown to really like this deck. Engine is quite simple and easy to get the hang of in terms of setting up the skill targets/endboards/graveyard, but as with any deck that has handtraps as their main form of interruption, it does require you to know when to handtrap against each deck so that you can drive your opponent into a position where the single searchable Kaiju from the skill + floating effects is enough to break their board and easily OTK.

Going first, with help from the skills, the setup I used is without exception B.E.S, Fortress and Ruinforce on the field, Citadel in the grave and Desperado in hand. Not every hand can consistently achieve this, but most can, and even when you can't, you will only be missing the Desperado, which is not a massive deal (still bad tho).

Notes & mistakes I fell for while learning the deck:

  • Don't bother playing around Sphere Mode. If you attempt to do so and end on 2 monsters, you will be missing either Fortress (which is the only earth machine in your endboard so now the Citadel in your GY is dead), B.E.S. (you lose your only quick effect interaction from your base setup + Desperado in your hand is now dead unless your opponent manually pops your Ruinforce) or Ruinforce (you are now missing a negate + HP halve during battle phase + a 5100 gigachad bungus beatstick). If they have it, just scoop.

  • Activate Oricalchos as soon as you can almost all the time, unless they have a negate. In that case just try to get something on the board somehow (gimmick puppets, one of the level 4 machinas, B.E.S. etc.), use 2nd part of the skill to search a Kaiju, get rid of the negate and then activate it. Note that Oricalchos will destroy all your special summoned monsters when activated, which is almost all of your deck.

  • Experienced players will pop the set Oricalchos during your draw phase. Don't scoop instantly if that happens, it's not an insta loss as you still have access to the 2nd part of the skill, but expect to still lose most of the time.

  • The summon of Fortress and Ruinforce do not start a chain (same as Horus monsters), and (unlike Horus), they can be summoned as many times as you like as long as you have fodder to discard/banish. Keep that in mind if you get Nibiru'd. You can summon back 2 of the 3 endboard pieces right away, and with a 10k+attack token on top of it, it's almost as if you want to get Nibiru'd with this deck.

Have fun :)
