Notes & Combos

Things to note:

  1. I've only done 2 runs of the box. Currently on my 3rd. This is why Digisoon, Divinebreath, and Trombow are played at 2 copies.
  2. I prioritized Speed's Chimera release over the previous Rush box, which is why I only have 1 Shiny Shady. I got 1 copy before digging into this box, and will return to get more Shadys later, as I'm usually more of a Rush duelist than a Speed duelist, so I'll have them eventually.
  3. Widespread should be Trap Hole. I was using Compulsory pretty much the entire climb, but made the last minute change after the 3rd game of my win streak to accomodate for Sword & Shield as a way to play against low DEF monsters like Flame/Burst Wingman, Sevens Road Magician, and Charmy Witch. Obviously, it's not perfect, as it can get popped before the battle phase, or the monster can be switched to Defense, but even the damage reduction in dead match ups were appreciated.
  4. The reason why it should be Trap Hole over Widespread is because you want to hit things like Sevens Road Witch, HEROs, and other Music Fiends before they commit to their effect or backrow removal. Being able to activate before backrow removal is very key. I did Widespread because it was 2 AM and I wasn't thinking straight lol
  5. Siesta Hold was also an experimental choice late in the run. I was getting tired of Avian Spell Tactics -> HERO lines, and Straynge Witch, that I added it as counterplay. I only saw it once, against another Music Princess deck, and it was dead for 2 turns, but ultimately won me the game as the opponent Normal Summoned Trombow on their open field and I shut them out of it. Other than literally that single interaction, the card is very bad in that match up. Fortunately, I didn't see any other Music Princess duelists.
