Notes & Combos

When this deck was playable in OCG rush, the mvp of it was shocklead dragon, so I was pretty sad when I found out it’s not good in the duel links incarnation of the deck. The deck is also missing heavy roller which sucks a lot, however, the skill makes up for it mostly. With the skill setting up grand slam dragon the game plan is to just hope you draw grand slam dragon and summon it every turn. This deck is EXTREMELY linear and lacks a very strong auto-win boss monster like shining flare wingman or eternal galactica oblivion which makes it pretty weak, but it is consistent enough at summoning grand slam dragon every turn.

As for the actual choices in the decklist, the one dododo second is because I only have one, otherwise I’m happy with the ratios other than I should be on a second fire dragon instead of achacha catcher.

Now, I really want to talk about shiny shady being added to duel links. Currently in OCG rush shiny shady is either the best or second best staple trap in the game, which is why it’s very interesting Konami decided to add it instead of all the staple traps that came before it and it powercrept (like crisis at the sacred tower). I think this decision was very good as shiny shady (and another trap that is in OCG rush but not duel links yet) has a genius requirement of sending a card from hand to gy. This means that it’s incredibly telegraphed and allows for a lot of skill expression between the opponent trying to bait it and play around it and the player needing to use it at the optimal time in the combo instead of just flipping it when the opponent attacks like other traps. Duel links rush has felt like it lacks skill expression so I love this card in it.
