Notes & Combos

With Speedroids being nowhere to be seen after the banlist, this deck is finally somewhat playable.

Consistency is not really an issue, so we can run 30 cards to have a better grind game. I would probably run a 3rd Clausolas and Senju if I had them (yes I have 3 Prep and 2 Clausolas), because the deck really needs all the plusses it can get. I haven't tried the Spellbook engine yet, but it might be worth experimenting with. Extra Deck should probably have Brute Enforcer to more easily unclog the field instead of n70, considering I never summoned it anyways.

This list is pretty much standard, save for the skill, Summon Breaker and Great Sorcerer. The idea behind these is to try and summon Valkyrus turn 1, then use its effect to tribute itself (and Great Sorcerer, if possible) to draw 2 cards and clear the field; then we can banish the Ritual Spell in the GY to search another one for the next turn and, if we tributed Great Sorcerer, it will also search for another Valkyrus, granting us protection. Since we summoned a lvl 8 or higher Ritual Monster, we can then activate the skill to swap a card in the hand for Summon Breaker.

The above combo involving Great Sorcerer is all theoretical: it almost never happens in practice, so I don't think that card is worth running at all. Even if you do the combo without it, it's usually a waste of card advantage that ends on just a floodgate which dies to a single Cosmic Cyclone. All things considered, I still think the skill is okay to run, as it can be used after summoning Trishula turn 2 or 3 to make it harder for the opponent to make a comeback in case I can't OTK them.

As for matchups, Odd-Eyes is surprisingly not that terrible, while Dark Magician is very annoying as they usually don't put cards in the GY turn 1 and they can negate our Ritual Spells with Navigation. Gungnir is strong here, but the discards can be very costly for this deck. Orcust and HERO variants are a toss depending on how much backrow they can open and if they can set their whole hand or not. You usually don't win these without being able to resolve Trishula.
