Notes & Combos
I left Duel Links for Master Duel some months ago, but then I saw the Armed Dragon Thunder cards released and a degenerate ability that allows for the summon of Dark Armed Dragon for free, so I got to get back to Duel Links to play it and Chazz the competition up!
I started with the deck in Platinum 1 reaching Legend 1 in 44 victories and King of Games in other 51 victories, making the climb in 95 victories total. Overall the climb was hard from Platinum 7 to Legend 1 and from Legend 1 to Legend 2. Getting into King of Games needed just to grind the time required to achieve the 5 win streak. So overall the deck feels competitive in this crazy metagame. I would say that the worst matchup is Orcust both going first and second. Odd-Eyes is bad going first but doable going second. Speedroids is better going second but going first is OK if you can climb summon to Armed Dragon Thunder Lv10 and/or get any copy of Book of Moon in the starting hand. The fact that the ability makes summoning Dark Armed Dragon so easy is just overpowered in my opinion, as a well timed Dark Armed Dragon can destroy many boards when going second.
The decklist is the basic list that other more enlightened players have developed before. I think that having 2 copies of the Armed Dragon Thunder Lv10 is good because you can discard it to the ability without being restricted to not summon it, plus it can make for an easy and cheap Armed Dragon Lv10 - White summon. I started playing Forbidden Lance instead of Cosmic Cyclone but I changed after reaching Legend 4 because Cyclone works much better against Orcust and Odd-Eyes. I never used any of the cards in the extra deck, so it is just decorative in my case. I have seen some innovative players using the extra deck in Armed Dragon, so I am eager to try those approaches.
I am happy to be back to Duel Links and to have reached King of Games with such a cool deck!
Good luck with your climbs!
