Notes & Combos

Hello again everyone! Your number one Altergeist player/streamer/content creator is back again with the updated Altergeist decklist for the April 2024 ranked season, aka my birth month. This also marks my tenth King of Games entry ever, so yay! I got my KoG icon finally after long last. For this KoG run, my 27th birthday came and went and Konami delivered with the birthday presents and oh boy, they delivered hard. Altergeist Meluseek was released from the limit 3 banlist and thus, Altergeists were allowed to run limit 3 backrow, which I abused to the fullest. In terms of my decklist, everything is standard, but I'll talk about my tech choices that may seem unusual.

1. Spellbook of Knowledge → This came up a lot and when comboed with Meluseek, it enables a broken draw 3. You summon Meluseek, Spellbook to draw 2, then search your missing piece off Meluseek, that being either Multifaker or if you have it already then Kunquery to survive the attacks. Searching Marionetter is also okay in niche scenarios to have as follow-up, but you'll mostly search Multifaker or Kunquery. Also, kicking your own monster off the field turn one is great against Battle Chronicle to turn off Successor Soul, their primary form of disruption. Personal Spoofing can also dodge Successor Soul if you opened it or drew it off of Spellbook of Knowledge.

2. Lost Wind → This is basically Altergeist Protocol at home and with it recycling itself from the graveyard, you have more traps to work with, which is always nice. I personally would like Altergeist Protocol to be added, but I guess Konami deems it too strong for now. Maybe in the future we'll get it, but for now we got Lost Wind for the extra negates to work with.

3. Compulsory Evacuation Device → This is a very good form of generic monster removal, which is good at taking the pressure off your Silquitous bounce since Silquitous can deal with the backrow while Compulse can deal with the front row.

This was by far the most fun King of Games run I have ever done. Also, I'm super stoked about the next minibox coming, Scream of Resistance, since that box has Altergeist Pookuery and Altergeist Memorygant in it. I'll have an updated decklist for you guys when the new box is here with a fresh new KoG run so stay tuned!
