Notes & Combos
Hello everyone, it's your favorite BEST Altergeist main here with another Altergeist upload! I'm sure everyone in the Duel Links community knows me as the rank one undisputed best Altergeist player, so I need no introductions here. Let's get into the writeup for my KC Cup MAX decklist for September 2026. I managed to max on stream so if you want to check it, drop a follow. I had a ton of viewers, so it's safe to say I am growing on Twitch!
For this month's KC Cup MAX, Altergeist got a brand new card in Altergeist Haunted Rock! I did a lot of testing and I came to the conclusion that Haunted Rock is complete garbage as a combo starter in Duel Links as opposed to Master Duel. The problem with it as a starter is that Adminia and Malwisp aren't in the game yet, so while Haunted Rock does give you a ton of extenders with the Odion Skill, you have nothing to Link Climb into with those extenders since your best endboard boss monster is still Altergeist Hexstia.
However, it's not all doom and gloom though. Haunted Rock is definitely a playable card. In Duel Links, it's better used as a follow-up tool instead of a combo starter. With Haunted Rock, Marionetter no longer has to sack itself to revive a body, which is good since that helps you keep board pressure over your opponent and Link Climb easier on your follow-up turn. Remember, Marionetter can sack ANY Altergeist card, including Haunted Rock, to revive something.
My hardest matchups were by far Bystial Branded, Snake-Eye, and Vaalmonica. Against Branded and Vaalmonica, you just auto scoop if you go second since they have better grind game than you do. Bystials are also annoying on Primebanshee and Multifaker since both are DARK. Against Snake-Eye, my opponents were bad and kept benching Multifaker instead of Hexstia. Guys, Silquitous can return ANY Altergeist card to the hand. Just because Multifaker is chilling in my backrow doesn't mean it's not an Altergeist card anymore. Silquitous can return a benched Multifaker. It's amazing how many people don't know that. Benching Hexstia is annoying since I have to use Marionetter to unclog myself by targeting Hexstia. Other matchups felt doable, but Stardust can also be a bit hard if your hand is bad.
In the end, this climb was easy. Not being able to derank was a welcome change since I did get a tad unlucky and lost a ton. I had a 13/0 winstreak somewhere in there too so it evens out. I want to wrap up here by saying where is PROTOCOL and my Ghost Gal SKILL?
Replays
For replays, I'll have my replays on my YouTube channel, but I'll put a replay vs Stardust and Labrynth here, as it showcases the best use of the new card in Haunted Rock. The DL Max rankup was vs Eradicating Aerosol FTK.
