Notes & Combos

Hello everyone. Welcome back to another one of my Altergeist entries, this time for the April 2026 format. Before I begin, I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who wished me a happy birthday on April 5th. My birthday was amazing and I gained a lot of YouTube subs, getting me even closer to breaking 500 subs and making my dream come true. I can't thank you guys enough for the support. Now, onto my deck write-up for this month's KC Cup.

For the April 2026 format, we're unfortunately in a tier zero Therion format and yeah, Therion is a very bad matchup for Altergeists, especially if you went first against them. The problem is that Therion Irregular is very threatening since it can blow up all your cards, thus demanding a response from you. It's for that reason that I decided to bring back Lost Wind. Lost Wind is there purely because I went for a more negate-heavy build to increase the odds I open a negate for Therion Irregular's board wipe. Stygian Dirge is there to turn off Therion's ability to access their Dragluxion package, which did come up a fair bit. Therion is still an awful matchup regardless and you'd rather go second into them so you can Sphere Mode sack their board and try to out-resource them from there. The only issue I ran into with this Lost Wind build is that Lost Wind is also an innate brick since it's not a Continuous Trap and therefore does not synergize with Odion's Skill, so keep that in mind. However, in the duels that it did come up, Lost Wind was very impactful at getting me tempo.

Everything else in the decklist is just standard Altergeist goodstuff that you guys have seen before. It's truly a shame how this format is just tier zero Therion, Therion FTK, Destiny HERO FTK, or some other FTK. It's crazy how Konami still can't get a handle on FTK's after this long and even crazier how we don't get emergency banlists anymore. Lava Golem and Sphere Mode are also running rampant as well. I guess the one upside here is that unlike most decks, Altergeist doesn't instantly lose to Lava Golem because you have a Silquitous bounce and backrow you can fall back on. However, Lava Golem does still set you back a fair bit if they got rid of your double Hexstia endboard. There's just no other way around it. Altergeist is a hyper aggressive control deck, so you absolutely have to play into Lava Golem and Sphere Mode. This meta is bad, we need a banlist, and I'm still here asking for Adminia, Protocol, Malwisp, and a Ghost Gal Skill.

Replays

For replays, I typically post most of them on my YouTube, but I'll at least drop my KC Cup MAX rankup duel here. It was against Destiny HERO FTK, but I went first and opened The Eye of Truth. My FTK was better than his FTK. Even without The Eye of Truth, I just negate all his Fusion spells and win anyway. This replay will at least give you the basics on the Altergeist combo and the turn one endboard. Best of luck!
