The Metagame has more-or-less settled, and while it's way more diverse than previous formats, with several viable decktypes across all power levels (especially amongst Rogue decks), players are eager to see what the next big thing is. With Sora Perse and his Fluffals most likely coming more than a month from now, we are unsure what decks could come with Bakura Ryou (DSOD) in the upcoming week. Since the last few Mini BOXes brought powerful additions to the metagame (with Phantom Knights and Abyss Actors respectively), it will be exciting to see what potential metagame shake-ups will come as we slowly approach the next KC Cup.
Once again, we have decided to not change anything in the Tier List. The meta is pretty stable and you should probably know what to expect when joining tournaments. Make sure to have a Side Deck ready for Phantom Knights (the current Best Deck) and your weakest matchups. Keep that in mind and you probably should do well moving forward.
The meta remains the same this week. That's not to say that the meta is bad in any way. In fact, I’d argue that this is one of the healthiest metas we’ve had in a while. While some decks like Phantom Knights are the clear front runners, we’re at a point where almost any deck can do well with the right pilot and just a sprinkle of luck
Nothing changed in the current meta. Phantom Knights are still by far the best deck in the format followed by Harpies closely behind it.
Neither deck has a clear counter, as they have a lot of 60-40 or 50-50 matchups.
Hopefully, the new Mini BOX (and possible Selection BOX) near the end of March will change the meta a bit, otherwise we are going with this meta as we head into the April KC Cup format.
Tier 1
Nothing new here, Phantom Knights remain Tier 1 as most decks in the meta continue to struggle to be able to break their Turn 1 set-up. The deck simply has it all: good consistency, good defensive set-ups, and good offensive plays. It is likely that this deck will continue to be Tier 1 until some intervention either through power creep or banlist occurs after April's KC Cup.
Yuto ’s signature archetype keeps its spot at the top this week. The deck reminds me a lot of Water Xyz in the sense that they are both Xyz-focused decks with small cores that allow them to run a large number of good techs. The biggest difference between these two decks however is their comeback-ability. While Water was limited to a lucky topdecked Loading... in order to reestablish a board, Phantom Knights have excellent recursion, with everything in their grave able to float into something that’ll give you advantage. Yes, the deck is very simple and fairly linear, but in the current meta, those qualities, when combined with consistency, are really all you need to see success.
