Tier 1
TPC Comments
D/D/D is still D/D/D. Now, this is only my opinion, but what I believe is that every deck in the list realistically only needs to care about the D/D/D matchup, as in a "high-level" environment it's the only deck you SHOULD face. Unfortunately (or luckily, depends on how you see it), this doesn't necessarily apply, because for whatever reason not everyone is on D/D/D, making the lower spots of the list a mess when it should be much simpler. Essentially people are kneecapping themselves by not playing the best deck for the sake of "fun", which on one side means that, yes, we aren't seeing D/D/D mirrors all day (that would be horrifying), but on the other it creates a high variance, meaning you can't prepare for everything, which ultimately leads to the necessity of dodging whatever bad matchup you have. Well, unless you're playing D/D/D itself, you have no bad matchup at that point.
For the tenth week in a row, D/D/D has proven itself to be the tier 1 deck and the best archetype in the current meta.
This is due to several factors:
- The consistency of the deck
- The variety of winning conditions
- The ability to win quickly
So even after the ban list the deck still has 11 cards out of 20 to start a good combo (2 Loading... / 3 Loading... / 3 Loading... / 3 Loading... ) and the variety of winning conditions makes it so difficult to counter the deck or Side against it.
If we try to compare between D/D/D and the other meta decks we will see that although Burning Abyss is so consistent, it is still much slower after losing the support of Loading... and it has almost the same winning condition through the same monsters which gave D/D/D an advantage over it.
As for the rest, the other Tier 3 decks are either not too consistent like Odd-Eyes and Galaxy which can lead to a loss in many duels or they can be easily countered bu like Gandora or they have some problems with the follow up like Metalfoes.
I think D/D/D is going to be largely used in the KCGT and I cannot see a deck coming soon that can counter it so maybe the only way to stop the deck is another hit, perhaps putting Kepler to 3 along with Loading... or Slime (depending on to what extent Konami is willing to decrease the power of the deck).
D/D/D is still the best deck of the format, it's still dominating tournaments as the banlist hurt Burning Abyss while allowing for more creative D/D/D builds, like including more copies of Loading... (The Hidden Gem) as missing pieces of the puzzle for spamming Level 8 monsters to consistently make Loading... (which is their best Turn 1 play) or a formidable board on Turn 2 with a free S/T negate and strong Rank 8 plays to push for OTK. As Loading... no longer gives you a S/T Pop on Turn 3 with Command of the Doom King , Some players are replacing it with Loading... as an extra interruption.
D/D/D convincingly stands at the top of the meta. The deck can confidently go first and second, has both offence and defence and can play both passively and aggressively. On top of that, the deck boasts consistency as well as easy access to the strongest kind of Xyz Monster currently in the game - Rank 8. Loading... drawing thrice sets up follow-up and defence simultaneously, while the Galaxy-Eyes package (Loading... + Loading... + Loading... ) can single-handedly turn around duels into the D/D/D player's favour.
Tier 2
TPC Comments
After the nerf, Burning Abyss still remains powerful. Furthermore, people have starting playing Loading... which has been added for everyone via the new BOX.
