Seems like the Limit 3 staples (Loading... , Loading... and the new Loading... ) will be the ones shaping the format instead of the archetypes. Players will have to choose between high impact potential or a more generic alternatives.
Here are my reflections on the new Selection Box
Loading... has got to be the most important card in the new Selection box, and it raises the question: is it the new Loading... ? It has the ability to either steal a monster from the opponent's grave to use or banish it alongside a monster of matching type from the opponent's field. Many decks like Gouki and Salamangreat can fold to a single copy of this deck, but the Limit 3 at the offset has hindered its ubiquity (forcing you to choose between IDP, Crackdown, and Loading... , with Compulse being the most effective against Mekk-Knights at the moment). Regardlesss, IDP is incredible strong and owning 2-3 copies would be ideal.
Loading... also arrived at the pre-emptive Limit 3 slot, with its ability to steal an opponent's monster and immediately Link it off with few drawbacks. This Spell is good and will undoubtedly see play in future metas.
Loading... is one of the most important cards in the Onomat archetype (and is a must-run at 3). The problem is Onomat itself isn't currently enough at the moment and would want additional support, but it's a huge boon for ZEXAL - Ultimate Unite decks.
Loading... is incredibly strong, but currently unsearchable - most current decks would rather have a card with more synergy.
Loading... is the most important SR from the Selection Box, with an easy Summon condition and an easy Monster removal effect with the potential to draw if it's co-linked. A must-obtain Link Monster at at-least 1 copy.
Loading... is a nice piece of support for Vampire decks, but the combo is quite interruptible and will require more support - but Sucker itself can be used in other Zombie decks that may come.
Loading... would have been the perfect support to jumpstart Thunder Dragons back to life, but alas, it is also at the Limit 3 slot with Loading... .
Tier 1
TPC Comments
Mekk-Knights remain the best deck of the format despite not being as consistent as its predecessor. It has access to Limit 3's and those Limit 3s aren't as devastating against Mekks compared to the rest of Tiered decks (aside from Infernoids). Mekk-Knight can play without using the GY to avoid Loading... , which is also too slow to banish Loading... before it resolves. Loading... doesn’t stop Blue Sky, can be popped by Loading... or Loading... , and also can give them a free column. Loading... is the most effective in the short term as it can stop Blue Sky search and get rid of a column.
Tier 2
TPC Comments
Salamangreat has been promoted to tier 2 due its great consistency, great defensive board, and ease of follow-up access on following turns. With unexpected new support in the form of Loading... which has a large ATK value, easy summoning condition, synergy with Loading... , and the ability to act a removal for the Extra Monster Zone. This deck now has its main problem (Low-ATK Monsters) somewhat circumvented, which make it muvh harder to OTK. Another card to look out for potential use in the deck is the newly-released Loading... , as the co-link synergy and draw is very easy to achieve in Salamangreats, and the removal effect is appreciated.
Salamangreat is still the most consistent archetype after the banlist but it has no access to Limit 3s while also being very vulnerable to the new Loading... .
