TPC Analysis on Balance Impact
, TPC Manager
A Word FromHello all, in light of the recent balance update, the Top Player Council has weighed in on on the current Tier List and how it will be impacted by the banlist. Bear in mind, there has been no Skill Balance changes as of yet, so we're still currently in Meta Limbo as we await potential Skill changes to further shake up the meta.

My first impressions are that Tachyon will be going from Tier 0 to probably a solid Tier 1 (alongside Shiranui), but this totally depends on the performance of older meta decks that now have another chance to compete, since Tachyon's Turn 1 is no longer as oppressive.
From a first glance, the banlist turns a 2 deck format into well...a 2 deck format (especially with no confirmation of any approaching Skill changes). Likely hyperbole, as some decks do get more breathing room with Tachyon's Turn 1 not being as oppressive (like Mayakashi, which had some tops in the KCC, although it remains to be seen if a pivot to Turn 1 Loading... and Loading... / Loading... would push Mayakashi mostly out of the meta once again).
I anticipate both Shiranui and Tachyon still being the most represented decks in this format, with Shiranui taking an edge over Tachyon (one reason being Shira is more consistently able to extend Loading... , should that still play, whereas Tachyon, which likely only runs 1 Galaxy Spiral Dragon now will either need to open it or successfully resolve Loading... to search it).
Both Shiranui and Tachyon received hits on the list, decreasing their power ceiling. Tachyon now has to choose between playing Loading... , Loading... , or Loading... . Shiranui lost access to Loading... and access to Limit 3 (unless they want to sacrifice consistency). I believe they can still remain competitive in the format, as they can still be played. We'll have to wait and see if they continue to be dominant decks or if another deck emerges to surpass them. Live☆Twin had some placements within the Top 100, along with Mayakashi. We'll have to wait to see what happens with these decks that didn't receive hits, whether they can climb back to the top of the Tier List or if a new strategy emerges in the coming weeks, either a deck from formats past or newly-added support.

There is no more Loading... + Loading... / Loading... Turn 1 (so now you have more chances to get rid of the Tachyon / Cipher). There is no more Loading... Yurn 1 (no more insane draw power). Loading... to 3 means no more staples at 3 (or at least Tachyon players are now limited to 1-2 copies max). Overall, Tachyon's Turn 1 is weaker than before but its Turn 2 remains strong with OTK potential.I would say the deck is still strong but not Tier 0 anymore.
Tachyon loses two important cards with the new banlist in Loading... / Loading... and 1 copy of a Limit 3 staple (Loading... can be searched, if they wanted to remove Limit 3 access Loading... was the better hit in my opinion). The banlist hit the deck's Turn 1, but its Turn 2 will likely be the same. I would guess that Tachyon will remain on the Tier List (probably at Tier 1 or Tier 2) but it's not as oppressive as it was before.
