This Tier List is in wake of the April 2021 KaibaCorp Cup 2nd Stage. As such, it was made with the Best-of-1 Ladder Format in mind.

Normally, the Tier List is made around what is expected to perform well in the competitive tournament scene (primarily the MCS). Upon the arrival of the KC Cup, however, the council instead votes on the decks expected to perform well in the second stage of the KC Cup. As a result of success criteria between successful tournament decks and successful KC Cup decks being different, the meta is still extremely similar but with some notable differences.

KC Cup is around the corner and as always this Tier List is specifically designed around that format. Now while DLM has also switched to Non-Side, there‘s still some huge differences, mainly that in KC Cup losses are less relevant because of the sheer amount of games you‘re able to make. This allows more gimmicky decks to enter the meta, as accepting an Auto-Loss vs some match-up is fine if the return is straight up destroying some other decks. In an MCS or Meta Weekly Top 32, a single loss would knock you out, so people are much less inclined to run riskier decks.

And once again we entered the KC Cup week and this changes up the Tier List a bit. As always we added some decks to the Tier List which are going to see play in the KC Cup and do well because they are able to farm points quickly like Cyber Dragon and Evil-Eye, as well as Fire King which just is an overall good deck. An honorable mention which did not make on the Tier List would be Triamid.

Triamid is as we know one of the most consistent decks we have in Duel Links which one can build well to beat a specific deck or type of deck. Trunade decks are very popular in the first half of Stage 2 to farm points quickly and Triamid has the ability to play a lot of Continuous Traps like Loading... or Loading... . Not to forget that the Triamid Field Spells are not effected by Loading... in the first place. Depending on how the second half of the KC Cup plays out, it might develop a different niche. Once people stop spamming OTK decks, it could shine as a counter to the most popular highroll deck with its ability to play both Loading... and Loading... , it still not having any Semi-limits which means it can also play Loading... , in addition to its overall decent grind game abilities. As such, we are fairly likely to see people use Triamid to get Top 100.

This is not an opinion on meta or anything - I just want to wish all of KC cup tryharders a good luck, don't afraid to switch techs and sometimes even decks to maintain or even improve your score, try to keep records of your match-ups to see what is the meta around your DP - and enjoy your run! If you are not having fun, take a break and come back.

Let the royal rumble begin!

Due to it's incredible versatility and power Star Seraph Darklords remain Tier 1 for this weeks KC Cup. The expected use of OTK strategies such as Onomat and Cyber Dragon, but also many other rogue strategies favors this deck a lot as it is able to grind through explosive turns with the use of Loading... and Loading... . The access to Star Seraph combo allowes for an almost auto-win situations due to the huge card advantage, which is important to have through the course of the event. It will be interesting to see what version of the deck players will opt for as while the Destiny Draw build is currently more popular, Level Augmentation with Loading... is also something to expect and look out for.

You never saw this coming! With destablizing power plays and the ability to grind through almost any match up thrown their way, Star Seraph darklords take sole control of Tier 1. We expect them to do very well, and hope to see a crushing banlist.
