Overall, the new box, with the exception of Vaalmonica, feels lackluster and not worth going into, especially because the June box is expected to have a major impact on the meta.

Tier 1

The turn 1 of Therion got addressed with the list, but since all the floodgates that were problematic for Therion also got hit, Therion's turn 2 actually got stronger by comparison. Therion now just aims to either prevent your battle phase with Loading... , Loading... , or Loading... , or set up a board of mostly unaffected monsters so they get to break the opponent's board on the follow-up and win by out-resourcing the opponent, or get the negations out of the way to then blow up the board with Loading... .

The consistency is still basically the same, they just lost some tech spots.

Since Therion got crucified last banlist, people have come up with new ways to play it with an insane going second strategy much like old Therion. Board breakers have seen a lot of success this meta. Though the turn 1 is really weak to board breakers, it is not bad into any other deck other than the mirror match.

Now that people don't have to decide what to lose to anymore, board breakers saw a surge in popularity which is bad news for Destiny HERO (which looked like the strongest deck after the banlist due to the lack of real hits.)

While their turn skip is near 100% consistent (they just need a skill target), it loses to a well-placed handtrap and makes the amount of techs go down to a maximum of 4 to 5.

Their 30-card build has an explosive turn 1, but if you manage to deal with the board the follow-up is not particularly great. Still, the sheer amount of power the skill provides and the lack of limitations on their cards makes the deck worthy of tier 2.

Looking at the banlist, you might think Destiny HERO would end up as the best deck as they didn't really lose many relevant cards. You can just take a list from the last KC Cup top 10, remove a couple of cards, and it looks completely fine. Well, this deck is having a lot of trouble performing because of how the meta shaped up. Without FTKs and floodgate combos, there is not really a reason to play handtraps anymore, and the Destiny HERO endboard just loses to one board breaker, like Loading... , Kaijus, or Loading... .

The fact that the turn skip Destiny HERO can only afford a couple of techs makes it so bad going second that it is not even worth playing in that version. The big strength of the deck was the ability to end on Loading... and Loading... through many handtraps when handtraps were still necessary to play the game. After the banlist, there is not really a reason to play heavy handtrap decks. One breaker plus a good engine is enough to beat almost everything going second, and Therion is just better than Destiny HERO at doing that.

With Loading... gone, most ABC players decide to end on Loading... , Loading... , Loading... , and one of either Loading... or Loading... and backrow, which is doable off of one card. For decks other than Therion, breaking those boards is extremely difficult due to the good follow-up the combination of Loading... and Loading... provides.

It has other options like Loading... or Loading... too, but due to being worse going second (Loading... ) or worse into Therion (Loading... ), it doesn't see much play. Loading... is awful into many decks, which benefits ABC a lot because the deck cannot play around it well at all, losing access to their fusions, most importantly Loading... . Their strong endboard and good board breaking capabilities allow it to climb to tier 2 status.
