Overview

Meta Championship Series 34 has concluded! With the KC Cup coming this weekend, this MCS was 1 Deck without a Side Deck. After 7 rounds of Swiss, we had an impressive showing from Karakuri, the newest deck to enter the meta. After everything was done, however, we had a match between heyheycraig's Blackwings and kiddmane's Invoked Neos in back-to-back MCS finals showings, with kiddmane finally taking the gold after coming so close in MCS 33.

Interview with kiddmane

How does it feel to win the MCS after coming so close the last time?

I feel satisfied finally being able to secure First Place, as I got 2nd Place last MCS. It feels really good to be able to top two MCS back-to-back.

Anything you want to tell us about yourself?

I am a competitive TCG player and have been playing Yu-gi-oh! ever since I was a kid. I played Duel Links and started to take it competitively by entering Duel Links Meta Tournaments. I enjoyed the tournament environment ever since.

How did the day go for you? Any notable Matchups?

The day for me went smooth, I had no Issue playing against Witchcrafters, My only Defeat was against Kurosuke in Round 5, which I later had to play in Top 4 and won my rematch. So I would have to say I'm pretty satisfied with how my matches turned out.

What was your read on the Meta this KC Cup format? Why did you go with Invoked Neos?

I was expecting a heavy amount of Witchcrafters, as Loading... is a really popular Side Deck card against them and being a no Side Deck tournament, players had to already have an out to Loading... . Being a Trap-heavy Deck, I was able to have multiple options on monster removal. Invoked Neos was my favorite of choice as it's what I brought with me to MCS 33. I wanted to represent the deck a second time around and get first this time.

Anything you'd like to say about your Decklist?

So the Loading... made it into the decklist at the last minute after a strategic conversation with my teammate PokerGuy, It was a good meta call, as Karakuris and Blackwings love to swarm the field, and it also complements the Invoked Neos deck, as Loading... will protect Loading... , and if Loading... is face-down, he will also remain on the field. Loading... at 3 was important, as it allowed me to draw into it consistently and negate monster effects with ease, but the main focus on that card was being able to discard another Trap card in hand in order to negate a Trap on the field to protect my monsters from destruction and to prevent Loading... , which was a very problematic card for me last MCS.

Lastly, do you have any Shoutouts you would like to make?

Shoutout to everyone in my MHC Clan for supporting me and rooting for me to get First Place! Thank you Max K for fighting to get me into the Clan and believing in me. Shoutout to PokerGuy for suggesting the Loading... , as it came in very clutch! He was a big influence on making the Invoked Neos build that got First Place today & shoutout to him for even making this deck a thing! Thank you to MCBlueSkies for fostering such a great atmosphere in his clan. It's been really wonderful to be a part of and I am happy to be in a clan with a supportive environment where I know they will help me grow into a better player!

Lastly, I want to give a special shoutout my brother GBGOOMBA, he has been supporting me from Day 1! Before I was recruited to be on a clan/team, he always had my back! Shoutout to Klappincheeks for also being there for me before I was on a team. They are both very competitive DL and TCG players.
