Overview

Meta Championship Series 36 has concluded! With this non-side tournament, we had several interesting decks in Top Cut, including Gouki, Spellbooks and Weather Painters! In the end, however, we had DanielYGO's Crystrons up against Psych0P's Invoked Magician Girls in the finals, with Daniel taking his first championship!

Interview with DanielYGO

How does it feel to win the MCS?

Amazing. It still feels like I'm dreaming, especially since I was undefeated

It's definitely impressive to go undefeated the entire MCS, what was your most notable Match throughout the day?

The Match against Negative1. I really enjoy Crystron mirrors and playing against a skillful one against Negative1 was a pleasure. I would love to do it again, we will see if he can get his revenge or not.

You're notorious for playing Crystrons, why do you keep going back to them?

I simply enjoy their playstyle. I enjoy playing decks there you need to manage your resources effectively and Crystrons are a deck that does it really well. I started playing Crystron in the TCG in 2017 and it has since been one of my favourite decks of all time. This deck getting into Duel Links was one of the reasons I started playing to begin with. We unfortunatly do not have too many of these types of decks in Duel Links so I'll keep playing Crystrons. I might switch up a bit once we get something similiar in the future.

Anything you'd like to say about your Decklist?

Level Duplication is the right move in a Bo3 Format with a Side Deck since you can side accordingly for your worse matchups. However since this MCS was a Bo3 no Side format I had to put in the Mystic Depths package in the main deck with Loading... and Loading... . This Engine is mainly for the Invoked Matchup, which I was afraid of, while also giving you an advanatage in the mirror, which as we saw live on stream, paid off in my Top 4 game and in the Finals

As for the techs Loading... is the best 3-of I could run because it is a one-for-one which is really good for a deck like Crystrons that gains a lot of momentum from one-for-one trades. Loading... is the best extender the deck has, but loses to Loading... so I ran only two, and since I was still afraid of Invoked Decks and cards like Loading... I also put in Loading... . Unfortunatly it deals with fewer cards when compared to Cosmic, so I played only two copies unlike Negative1 because I respected Loading... and Loading... which both came up in the tournament. The rest of my list is pretty standard, but I would not change anything if I had to play again.

Anything else you would like to say about your tournament experience?

I had a great time in the tournament. It was a great experience. Originally I just wanted to have a good time before slowing down tournaments with university starting soon. In the end I not only had a good time but ended with a big win.

Lastly, do you have any Shoutouts you would like to make?

I would love to give a shout out to pretty much everyone who has supported me and all the positive feedback which I got from a lot of people in this community. To name some of those people and communities I would love to give a shout-out my my Clan MHC for the great support and taking me in at the beginning of the season while not having a lot of accomplishments in this community and believing in me until the end. I would also love to give a shout to RegiBang, the first Duel Links community I joined, and who helped me out a bit with my list. Not to forget the cheersquad in the DLM Crystron channel big love to you too. Last but not least, I would like to give a shoutout to Darkragno for getting me back into this deck. Once I saw him do those plays with Loading... while we were testing I was not able to withstand this deck and started playing it nonestop again.
