Overview

Meta Championship Series 31 has concluded! With the KCGT Qualifiers coming this weekend, this MCS was 1 Deck without a Side Deck. After 7 Rounds of Swiss, we had some interesting decks competing for the crown, including some Gouki decks and a Mayakashi Deck piloted by Skillshot. After everything was done, however, ZaGaZaGa emerged as the victor with his Shiranui Deck, besting our very own Herbel in a grueling three-game grudge match!

Interview with ZaGaZaGa (translated by NerdChic)

Anything you want to tell us about yourself?

My name is Marco (aka ZaGaZaGa), I'm Italian and I have been playing Duel Links for one and a half years.

My favourite deck in Duel Links is Thunder Dragons because they're really fun to play, even though I really love Crystal Beasts since I used to play them when I was younger.

What do you think about this meta? How did it influence your deck choice?

I really like a meta with many viable decks, even though lately it's been very stale. I chose Shiranuis because I felt I can use them at their best, also since they have the ability to main deck cards that help with different matchups, thanks to their small core.

What were your best matchups? Your toughest matchups?

The absolute worst matchup is Dark Magician, but luckly I didn't face any. The best matchups are Elementsabers and Crystrons

Would you make any changes to your list? If so, what changes would you make and why?

I was unsure about maining a second Loading... instead of Loading... until the start of the tournament, but it went well anyway so I wouldn't change anything.

Anything else you want to say about your Tournament Experience?

I'm happy to be part of the group of players who've won both a Meta Weekly and a Meta Champion Series

I'd like to see new Tier 1 decks to shake up the meta

Lastly, do you have any Shoutouts you would like to make?

I'd like to give a big thank you my clan, SGL. I joined them earlier this Clan Wars Season, they've helped and supported me
