Overview

In case you missed it, This Week's Meta Weekly was an interesting one, showing Witchcrafters finally finding a proper list and making a subsantial impact on the meta. However, by the end, we had wowerer's Shiranui up against El Xixo and his Cyber Dragons, with wowerer taking the victory in two games.

Interview with wowerer

Anything you want to tell us about yourself?

I been playing the game since 2017, way before phoenix berserk dragon actually was a thing. I loved that shit. I've also been playing competitive for 3 years, moreso on CW and Team Wars and rarely for MCS and some smaller tournaments. My biggest achievements before this were a couple MCS tops and 2nd Place in a Meta Weekly. Thanks to everyone who has been supporting me for the last few years and months.

Congratulations on your first win! How does it feel?

It feels great especially since I threw that other Meta Weekly a few weeks ago. I been working a lot for this, I never gave up and now I am here. I know what I been doing and I know that I can be proud of me. I remember how nervous I used to be in tournaments, but over the years I was able to overcome that weakness and that is something I am very proud of.

Why did you go with Shiranui?

I basically had the option to go with Witchcrafter or shiranui because I feel these decks were the strongest decks for the this format. Witchcrafter with the ability to go for Loading... and Loading... and maybe Loading... is pretty crazy. On the other hand there is Shiranui, which is versatile and the deck I used last MCS. I was like hmm... It worked in mcs so let me play it again. I also didn't feel comfortable enough with Witchcrafter because the list I was running didnt seem to be consistent enough, but I got some inspiration in my duel against Mistilttein who was on witchcrafter. I really enjoy Witchcrafter but in the end I felt more comfortable with Shiranui.

Anything you'd like to say about your Decklist?

My Shiranui list is different from other builds, if you can say that. I am not maining Loading... . I dont think Cyber Dragon is relevant enough to run it in the Main Deck, also the second Loading... actually came in clutch vs Crystrons, the match Dkayed streamed in Round 2. It was crazy. Knowing I would face many Crystrons and Witchcrafter I didnt main Loading... and went for Loading... and sided 3 Lance for the mirror and Cyber Dragon.

As for Level Duplication vs Level Augmentation , Duplication helps a lot to get that extra draw off from Loading... Turn 1. In addition if your Loading... somehow gets banished and anything happens to your Shogunsaga you can get it back which often stalls like 1 or 2 turns and can also show me what cards my opp has facedown if I read it correctly. One downside is that if I dont open Loading... I usually don't use it, whereas you use Augmentation a little bit more often even if you dont open Squire. Another downside vs Augmentation is that you want that Turn 1 Loading... in some specific matchups like Cyber Dragons. All in all I think there is no right or wrong. I have been playing both but right now I prefer Duplication.

I feel like Konami should completely annihilate Cyber Dragon and Dark Magician, but I also have something else I would enjoy a lot, to be honest. I was thinking of what Konami could do except nerfing decks. They could unlimit everything that isnt toxic like Stall or Burn cards and then start the powercreep from there. I feel we need a big change to the format and that would be something very big this stale meta needs right now, and in combination with a very good box that releases two or three new decks we could have an actual healthy meta change.

Anything else you want to say about your Tournament Experience?

All-in-all I would recommend everyone to play in DLM events. They are really fun. The most competitive people are in these tournaments and you can really learn a lot from playing in these kind of tournaments.

Lastly, do you have any Shoutouts you would like to make?

I wanna shoutout my Team Gods Chosen, especially Francesko007 who made Top 16 in this MW. Also additional shoutout to Famous_Laker, killvious, Negative1 and trapdexter.
