Overview

In case you missed it, this week's Meta Weekly was our first Tournament with the brand new Blue-Eyes Support and Selection box. The new box meta was in full force in the finals, with Loading... showing its face in both players deck, and ChuChuMTFKR taking back-to-back wins with his Blue-Eyes Deck.

Interview with ChuChu

How do you feel about winning back-to-back Meta Weeklies, with two different decks nonetheless?

I didn't expect to win it all for sure, had barely any experience with the deck but a few days ago Jano hit me up with a decklist and said the deck was really good in the current format so I just took it and it ended up performing quite well, just like last week the only matchup in Swiss I lost was a mirror match so I feel like once again I picked the correct deck for the tournament

Why do you think Blue-Eyes is a good pick this format?

I don't necessarily think it's a good pick this format, more like a good pick for this specific event, with a few meta adjustments the deck should do a bit worse.

How do you feel Book of Moon has impacted the meta so far?

I think Loading... was a really good addition to the card pool. It's not absurdly strong but its versatile and helps in a lot of situations, it can help you dodge popular cards like Loading... while also potentially being a defensive backrow, and can also be used offensively to swing over big monsters (like Loading... himself). Overall, I'm really happy with what the card did for the game.

Would you like to explain any of your Deck choices? Would you make any changes?

Blue-Eyes basically has a 15-card core so really only 5 slots can change in the Main Deck. I decided to go with 2 Loading... because of how versatile the card is, 2 Loading... since it's the most impactful Discard Trap (and Discard Traps have a lot of synergy with Blue-Eyes in general) and 1 Loading... so I could have an out to Loading... . I decided to Side hard for Thunder Dragons (with Loading... and Loading... ) since it was the scariest deck to play against. I also wanted to have the Loading... s since I thought the mirror match would be really popular and it indeed was, Cycle Reader won me multiple games.

What are your thoughts going into the MCS?

Really excited to see how the format shapes up for the MCS. In my opinion, there's a lot of directions where it could go, so it will be really exciting to see exactly how it will end up. Unfortunately, I won't be participating, but I will be watching and rooting for my friends that will be in it.s

Lastly, do you have any shout-outs you would like to make?

Shout-out to Jano who gave me the initial list, shout-out to my friends who kept me calm in-between rounds and helped me get back to my best after throwing Game 1 of Top 8 because I didn't read my card, and shout-out to everyone who supported me, you guys are the best!
