Overview
In case you missed it, this week's Meta Weekly was the first of our No-Side KC Cup Format tournaments. As expected, the old meta decks took up most of Top Cut, with the new addition of Onomat taking some slots as the prominent OTK deck, making it all the way to the finals. In the end, however, we saw Croatoan's Desperado taking the gold over Buns' Onomat in a quick 2-0 victory!
Interview with Croatoan
How do does it feel to win your first Meta Weekly?
The feeling is fantastic! I never dreamed of winning a Meta Weekly! I'm proud of myself because I managed to win my favorite tournament.
Anything you'd like to tell us about yourself?
When I was a kid, I collected cards and made a Deck to play with, but I never competed in the TCG (I only followed it online). I started with Duel Links in 2017, and I played for a year until I broke my cell phone and lost my old account. When Covid and quarantine came, I took on the game again and I played for fun, and then I decided to try to play tournaments to learn how to play better against excellent players to get better, but there's still a lot of work to do to be better.
What do you think of this new box meta? Why did you go with Desperado?
The new box is a fantastic phenomenon that has brought many new strong cards! Photon will be a new Tier 1 deck! I decided to go to Desperado because I thought it had the most realistic chance of winning because it's easier to deal with other Top Decks without Side Deck.
Would you like to explain any of your Deck choices? Would you make any changes?
First I thought about playing two Loading... s and adding Loading... , but since the new box came out I expected a lot of Noble Knights, Blue-Eyes and Photon players, so I decided to play three Quarantines to see it in my hand more often and it turned out to be a very good idea.
Lastly, Do you have anything else you'd like to say about your Tournament Experience?
This has been one big experience for me and I can't wait 'till next week to play again. Now, I'm going to prepare for the Giveaway, hope I don't lose out in the first round, hahaha!
