Overview

In case you missed it, last Week's Meta Weekly solidified Invoked Neos' place in the Meta Game. However, with that came the rise of Weather Painters, with two in the Top 4 and Felipe taking the crown.

Interview with Felipe

Anything you'd like to say about yourself?

Hi! I'm Felipe, a brazilian Yugioh player.

I've been playing Duel Links since it's global release, and I also played TCG until the Xyz era started. I was never really competitive in both games, but played some tournaments to have fun.

How does it feel to win your first Meta Weekly?

It feels amazing. I played other weeklies, but my best result was a Top 16 finish. It's awesome to finally be able to win a Meta Weeklies with a deck that I love to play.

How did the day go for you? Any notable matchups?

Swiss went pretty smoothly in general, but somehow I managed to face the only other Weather Painter player in the entire tournament in Round 5. In Top 32, however, it was a bit scary, because in both Top 32 and Top 16 I played against Blackwings, one of my best counters. The most memorable match was definitely the last one against Desperado. I don't think that a coin flip deck is healthy for the meta, but it was really exciting to play around the coins in the finals.

What do you think of the post-banlist meta?

The banlist was necessary to give the meta a fresh air. Some decks were in the meta for too long, and it was about time they died. The only mistake was limiting the Loading... to three, instead of Loading... .

Why did you go with Weather Painters?

Combo decks like Ritual Beasts and Crystrons have always been my favorites, because you really need to think about your plays and manage your resources to control the game. And now that Invoked is (unfortunately rising in popularity once again, Weather Painters were the perfect choice for me.

Would you like to explain any of your Deck choices? Would you make any changes?

I was debating between the Balance and the Destiny Draw versions, but opted for the Balance because of its consistency. Besides that, there isn't much to talk about. I sided Loading... and Loading... for Noble Knights and the Loading... s for Blackwings, all of which totally paid off.

Lastly, do you have any shout-outs you would like to make?

Shoutouts to all the DLM mods for making this amazing tournament. And special thanks to my Clan Mates on SGL, Místico and Julia, for always being good and comprehensive friends.
