Overview

Earlier today, Konami had its first Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links Remote Duel Invitational Tournament, where 16 players from Latin America were invited to compete for the championship and prizes. The format was 4 Rounds of Best-of-5 Swiss cutting to Top 4, where each player could use any Deck in their Collection for each game. After a wild day of back-and-forth matches, former TPC Member Yanstorm took the gold! You can watch the entirety of Konami's broastcast, hosted by Billy Brake and Michael Kohanim, here

Interview with Yanstorm

First of all, congratulations on your victory, how does it feel to participate in an official Konami Event?

I liked that I got invited to the event, I think it was because of my performance during past tournaments like KCC and WCQ. It motivates me to stand out in these tournaments so Konami can keep me in mind in future ones.

How is it playing in an official Konami event, how does it compare to DLM events?

The organization on both is pretty good. As for the format, I prefer Duel Links Meta since it's more competitive.

Do you think DLM should make tournaments with the same format as Konami?

What would I like to see is Konami making Duel Links Meta tournaments official. In regards of the format, I always feel like the ideal format for Duel Links is Best-of-3 with 2 Decks. DLM already does something similar to Konami's format with their Giveaways. I don't think it's necessary to do more, maybe do 2 Giveaways per month.

Anything you'd like to say about your Decklists?

With the variety of the meta, and the ability to use any deck during each round, preparation was a little difficult, mainly because there's so much to study. In my case, I just tried to make my decks in a balanced way that would help me in favorable matches, maybe that's why I chose to play Loading... in Dark Magician and 2 Loading... in Blackwings. I made some changes between rounds, mainly when I intuited that my opponent was going to use a specific deck.

I would like that they implement an official "Match" feature, it is really annoying that during a Best-of-3 you could go first/second in all 3 games. This would also avoid cheating when using cards that are not in the Main or Side Deck. I think this would really would help the game a lot.

Yes, I hope that Konami keeps making these tournaments and be able to participate in them.

Lastly, do you have any Shoutouts you would like to make?

I would like to give thanks to my friends El Xixo & Revolver for helping me test during this event, and also shoutouts to my teammates from Pharaohs, Team Socrates and Forbidden Memories
