Overview
In case you missed it, This Week's Meta Weekly was a solid look into the post-banlist meta, with the meta really settling down into something we recognize all too well. After the dust settled, we had Herbel and his Shiranui barely surviving elthor38's HERO onslaught by the skin of his teeth. Herbel is the 12th highest Ranking Player on the DLM Ladder and this is his second Meta Weekly win. If you want to learn more about Herbel you can check out his TPC Profile here!

How does it feel to win another Meta Weekly? How did your day go?
It feels really good to win an another one, especially since I couldn't top the last time I played, and I was really disappointed about that. I had a day off so I played with my doggos, did some yard work, so I had a really good mood and mentality coming in to the Meta Weekly.
Why did you go with Shiranui this Meta Weekly?
I prefer combo decks and creative decks, and always look for the opportunity to play them. In this current meta it's supposed to be Witchcrafter, and I really like the deck, but I can't reach the much-needed balance and consistency with the deck. And if I'm hesitant, I always go back to the good ol' Shiranui, which used to be a combo deck during the Loading... meta. Shiranui has no auto-win matchups, but if it's well-teched, it can take on any meta deck.
Anything you'd like to say about your Decklist?
I had two main goals with my deck:
- Don't lose to Loading...
- Don't lose to Invoked decks fusing away my Tuners.
Loading... was the MVP of the day, it helped me trough all my games. But with the 3 Forbidden Lance in Main Deck I was really weak against Witchcrafters, thats why I had heavy WC hate in the Side Deck. Normally, my Side would be 3 Loading... and 3 Loading... , but I also have a Blue-Eyes phobia, so I ended up with 2 Loading... s and one single Sphere, that won me at least 3 games today.
How do you feel about the meta right now?
I feel like the meta is way too backrow-heavy, that's why decks like HEROs can do really well right now. We dont really have a deck that can both beat the backrow decks, while also handling the OTK decks easily. Some months ago we had Crystrons, that could do it, and right now Witchcrafter is supposed to replace them, but it's not even close. I would really like to see new decks having success, we're all bored of playing Invoked dekcs.
Any balance changes you would like to see to shake up the meta?
There is one balance change I would really like to see: a Blackwing nerf. I have so many rogue deck ideas, but it can't be helped, as they all hard loosing to Blackwings. While you can easily counter Invoked decks with Loading... , we have no single card that could stop Blackwings alone.

I really enjoy playing Weeklies and other DLM events, so I want to say thank you to the moderator team and the organizers, they work really hard in the background every week, every day. I also want to say thank you to my team, De-Fusion for the support, to everyone on the VS and CH Discords for the good mood and for giving me a reason to play this game day-by-day. Also, special thanks to Chris., ChuChuMTFKR and Buns for always helping me with deck ideas and testing.
