Overview

In case you missed it, this week's Meta Weekly was the first Meta Weekly that

streamed the entirety of, resulting in one of the largest Meta Weeklies we've had in a long while. It was also one of the first post-banlist Meta Weeklies, giving us our first look at the new meta. As the script dictated, the return of Dkayed also brought in the return of the top Meta Ladder player and TPC Alumni in , who defeated in the D/D/D mirror in the finals.

Interview with Negative1

How does it feel to win this Meta Weekly?

Feels great! I'm happy a lot of people joined the tournament, I think Duel Links is a lot of fun and seeing a bunch of people participate is cool.

Why did you go with D/D/D?

I have a lot of experience playing kc cup and bo1 formats, so I think I benefitted a little from the lack of side deck. I believe D/D/D is the best deck with and without side available. While substantial, the nerf to D/D/D does not significantly diminish its power level when compared to the other decks. I think people overestimated the effectiveness of the nerf toward curbing the consistency of Loading... lines, and as a result D/D/D is still capable of achieving its ideal Turn 1 play.

How did the day go for you? Any notable matchups?

My Top Cut was 4 D/D/D Mirrors and 1 Phantom Knight match, so I would say my Top Cut was rather bland, but the only games I lost today were to mirror matches; I lost 1 game in Top 16 and 1 in Grand Finals. Other than that, every other match was a 2-0.

Anything you'd like to say about your decklist?

I think Loading... is useful against Extra deck disruptions, most notably Loading... , Loading... , and Loading... . Typically you will need to draw Loading... to contest these monsters, but if you use D/D Dog you have a searchable card that can negate them via its Pendulum effect, or negate them with its on-board effect in the case of Genghis.

Anything you're looking forward to with the new BOX?

I think Super Quant looks cool, maybe not Top Tier but they have an interesting resource loop with their Main Deck monsters and control tools in their Extra Deck monsters. Loading... is also a neat advantage tool and may be used to draw techs, but I think Loading... may be the most impactful card out of the new releases.

Lastly, do you have any shout-outs you'd like to make?
