Overview

In case you missed it, this week's Meta Weekly was the first Meta Weekly after the official banlist implementation in-fame. In the finals, we had

pulling off his second win in two weeks with his Witchcrafters against 's Harpies.

Interview with Davide Magri

How does it feel to win this Meta Weekly?

Well...deja vu?

What do you think about this post-banlist format?

Pretty much the same as the previous meta, with the only deck that realistically got buffed being Witchcrafter. I feel like this format is really healthy, so you can probably get away with playing anything you like.

Why did you go with Witchcrafters?

Because for once I wanted to put my brain to work instead of going unga bunga, which wasn't exactly the brightest idea given I was playing Top Cut waaaay past midnight (With finals ending at 4:30 am), so I pretty much just autopiloted the majority of the run. The deck still performed really well, and despite still having a fair chance of bricking, Loading... helped so much throughout the day, be it as a means to get into WC plays or just as a beatstick.

How did the day go for you? Any notable matchups?

Honestly, every match with this deck is fun and enjoyable as long as you don't open unplayable.

A match that was funny for another reason was my round 3 against

:

He wins 3/3 dierolls with NK because imagine not doing that, but

  • G1 he bricks and I OTK
  • G2 I brick and he OTKs me
  • G3 he bricks and I OTK In total these were 8 minutes of peak interactive gameplay.

Finals against

was also a really good match, with both of us being fairly tired and also being really low on time for the entire match, which makes for some fast and fun back and forth. After 2 games of actually interactive gameplay, it eventually came down to a 50/50 snipe in Game 3, just to remind us how Duel Links is usually like and bring us back to planet earth.

Anything you'd like to say about your decklist?

The decklist is pretty much standard for Neos variants, I don't think I did anything special with that worth explaining. If anything, I can say that I messed around with multiple Loading... s before using Neos, and found the latter much more useful. I feel like going forward Neos will be the most used list, as it's pretty much the only 3-of choice that helps you with your plays while putting a big body on the board. Aside from Harpies, a lot of decks in the format have trouble dealing with Loading... , so he shines even as a beatstick.

As for changes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it

Do you have anything else you'd like to say about your Tournament Experience?

I'm quite sad to still see lower numbers for Meta Weeklies, I suggest people to start playing them again because this format can be really fun. Key word being "Can", let's not kid ourselves into thinking that we're not playing Duel Links.

Lastly, do you have any shout-outs you'd like to make?

Usual shoutouts to APK and Casual Heroes, and special shoutouts to

and , who helped out in run when I was falling asleep.
