In case you missed it, Konami held a Yu-Gi-Oh! Remote Duel Invitational where top players from their Duel Links Remote Duel Extravaganza events, many of whom are DLM Alumni, and fight it out for the chance at glory and prizes. In the finals, we had
How does it feel to participate in official Konami Duel Links Events?
It feels quite surreal, especially since there aren't a lot of Konami-hosted events. All I wanted was to get to Top 4, I did not expect to go all the way.
How did you feel about how Konami organizes Duel Links tournaments, how does it compare to Duel Links Meta?
It was well-organized with a lot channels and judges for each match so it made run things smoothly, similar to how organized DLM events usually are with the mod team handling the smash.gg chats!
What did you think about Konami's format for the Remote Duel Invitational?
I personally prefer non-Side Deck formats a ton so it was enjoyable to prepare for the event, but Best-of-3 would be better for time management instead of Best-of-5, since the event took a while for 4 rounds.
What decks did you bring to the tournament and why?
I brought Thunder Dragons, Harpies and Melodious. Thunder Dragons I feel are really strong in non-Side Deck formats, also Harpies being the most popular deck is good for Thunder Dragons since the matchup is quite favorable for them. Harpies were the classic safe deck whenever I was unsure what my opponent would play. Melodious was a strong meta call whenever they would expect me to play Thunder Dragons since in my opinion the Thunder Dragon counter decks are usually favorable matchups for Melodious.
What are your overall takeaways from the event?
I feel like it is cool to see Konami-ran tournaments that aren't just WCS and KCGT. We don't get many of these at all, so it was refreshing to see them put in effort to host more official events. As a side note, it was also pretty funny to see so much Loading... being used in Harpies on their stream.
Lastly, do you have any shout-outs you'd like to make?
