Overview

In case you missed it, this week's Meta Weekly was the first Weekly after the balance update. In the finals, we had a match between Bixie's post-banlist Onomat and

's Harpies, with Bixie coming out on top.

Interview with Bixie

How does it feel to win your first Meta Weekly?

I'm super happy to finally tick off a major item on my Duel Links bucket list. This win felt particularly good, as I broke my "semis curse" from the past Meta Weeklies that I've topped.

Why did you go with Onomat this Weekly?

To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to this Meta Weekly (before the emergency banlist), as I didn't like the direction that Onomat was heading towards (Loading... Control). I mean, I would still play it regardless, but it wasn't enjoyable. Thankfully, the banlist update came and I was thrilled to try different card choices and work towards a list of my liking again.

How did the day go for you? Any notable matchups?

Well, the Swiss rounds were a disaster, as I went 3-2 and barely got into Top 32 as the 16th seed of my pool. Luckily, everything worked out for me during Top Cut. Notable matchups would definitely be

(THE ZubabaBunso) in Top 32, (my War Phase teammate) in Top 8 and Luke Tyler (first time beating him in a tournament after losing all previous encounters) in Top 4.

Would you like to explain any of your Deck choices?

I think every Onomat player was debating over one thing: Loading... or Loading... ? For me, I chose to maindeck Gagaga Head and not play Rhinosebus, as I believed the follow-up provided by Head was crucial and often turned the tide or secured the win. That being said, I did see some players maining Rhinosebus and siding Gagaga Head, so I'll definitely try that out when I can.

I chose to main deck Loading... instead of Loading... , as I believed Resonators with Loading... would have a large representation in this Meta Weekly due to the banlist.

I also had a total of two Loading... between Main and Side Deck. The card worked decently, but I believe there might be better choices.

Do you have anything else you'd like to say about your Tournament Experience?

I can't speak for others, but the Meta Weekly is definitely one of the tournaments that I look forward to the most on a weekly basis. Although the timings are rough for me (1 AM and 5 AM starting times now), I love competing and I hope this won't be the last time I win one.

Lastly, do you have any shout-outs you'd like to make?

Shoutouts to all my friends from Vorpal Swords / X-0 / Lost Tribe / Big Decks / Casual Heroes and the fellow Onomat players from DLM Onomat channel.

Special shoutout to uGotR3kt for helping me brainstorm the list a few hours before Meta Weekly, and

for being the most annoying Briish floopa I've ever met and always telling me that I got this, even before the finals.

Now, time to aim for a Freekly and MCS win?
