Overview
In case you missed it, this week's Meta Weekly was back to Side Deck. As such, we returned to a fairly familliar meta. In the finals, however, we had a familliar Deck in AdoboBoy's Resonators taking the win against VBellaFiore using a not-so-familliar engine.
Interview with AdoboBoy
How do does it feel to win your first Meta Weekly?
It feels really great, and is definitely a highlight of my long time playing this game. I've won/topped various other community tournaments, but for a while now I haven't been able to play in many DLM events like I used to. I felt it was bound to come eventually.
Why did you go with Resonators?
Resonators are really strong in this meta. On paper the Resonator combos don't seem that great, but the unmatched consistency and the ability to have a guaranteed follow-up play really put it a step above all the other decks in the meta. Despite being the main target for being countered, the deck can still perform.
What was your most memorable match?
The most notable matchup was against Bixie's Onomats in Top 4, I lost to him in Swiss so I really wanted to win the second time around. The set was looking really rough in Game 3 when he established a Loading... + Loading... . Luckily, I was able to push through and win with Loading... .
Would you like to explain any of your Deck choices?
The decklist is pretty standard with three Loading... , three Loading... , and two Loading... except for the inclusion of the Loading... + Loading... package. Stratos is one of, if not the best Normal Summon in the game. It's a Level 4 so it can be used to Synchro with, pluses on summon by searching itself or Plasma (which could then be sent back to deck with Demon's Resonance and be searched again), can potentially force out backrow if you have multiple on the field, and is a 1800 ATK beater which is very relevant in the meta. Loading... , Loading... , Loading... , Loading... to name a few, all have 1700 ATK so Stratos can beat over. For this version of the deck, every card you cut feels bad. But I think you can trim down from 24 cards, to be able to see your powerful techs more often.
Do you have anything else you'd like to say about your Tournament Experience?
Like always the DLM tournament experience was smooth. I've been in the Duel Links competitive scene and played in DLM events for around 4 years now, and haven't had any issues. If you really want to improve and play against the best in the game, DLM tournaments are the best place to be.
Lastly, do you have any shout-outs you'd like to make?
I'd like to shout-out all my friends old and new from Three Kings, Sun Clan, and Duel Links Philippines for all their support. Also to those who qualified for the KCGT Main Tournament, GLHF!
