In case you missed it, this week's Meta Weekly was the first No Side weekly. We had heavy presence from the four expected decks, but we still had several unexpected decks in the Top 32, like D/D/D and Evil Eye. In the finals, however, we had Devs with his Onomats taking out snek and his Blue-Eyes in a close 3-game match!
Interview with devs
How does it feel to win your first Meta Weekly?
It feels amazing! I've won other dlm tournies before (Meta Freekly and Giveaway) but winning the Meta Weekly was a big goal of mine so I'm glad I was able to pull this one out.
How did it go today?
Swiss pools was rough I ended up going 3-2, losing to the Onomat mirror and to Water Xyz and ended up making Top Cut in the last possible seed. After I made top 32 though, everything went really well, going second the majority of my duels and not losing a game until Grand Finals.
Why did you go with Onomat for this No Side tournament?
The main deck I go with is Satellarknights, but I decided to go with Onomat mainly to practice for KC Cup and also because the most played deck in Blue-Eyes and F.A. Star Seraph Darklords are very tough to deal with using Satellarknights without Side Deck cards, while Onomat is more versatile in that sense.
Would you like to explain any of your Deck choices?
Yeah this was a pretty standard Onomat list, mainly 21 cards because of No Side allowing for more flexibility in certain matchups. The Extra Deck is always different amongst Onomat players, because of the amount of options we have, but I decided against playing Loading... and opted for Loading... instead because I believed it does better against Blue-Eyes.
Lastly, Do you have any shout-outs you'd like to make?
Yeah I’d like to shout out to everyone in discord especially dizzybat for always hyping me up and Buns and the whole Onomat channel for deck ideas and matchup tips. Lastly, shout out to Dkayed, GiaJoestar and all of the great mods that make these tourneys great, I hope I can do this again soon!
