Notes & Combos

Another year, another King of Games entry has been made with my waifu's Altergeist deck. Man, I tell you, this deck is so much fun once it gets its engine going, like it's borderline unstoppable once you have your Silquitous and your Kunquery in rotation. However, to get to that point is generally hard and requires you to play perfectly, as one misplay could potentially cost you the entire game.

The general strategy with this decklist is still the same, with you setting your backrow, disrupting your opponent at critical choke points, and then comboing into your Altergeist Multifaker and your Altergeist Silquitous combo so you then have your Silquitous bounce online and ready to go. You basically slowly whittle down your opponent's resources while ramping up your own, which is a lot of fun because once this deck gets its engine going, it's borderline unstoppable.

The meta at this time is Tenyi at the tier one position, which is an annoying deck to face if they opened well. However, if you can break them, the deck runs out of gas very fast from what I've seen. In the tier two position, Constellars and Live★Twins are also difficult and king of coinflippy, depending on who went first and opened better. Mayakashi is 100% a skill matchup based on who can outplay better. And finally, in the tier 3 position, I did not encounter any Earth Machine, Rokkets, or S-Force, but those matchups can get a bit hairy if they open well. In this list, I added Jizukiru the Star Destroying Kaiju which helped a lot. Thechanges I made this time around are that I cut one Possessed Partnerships and added Jizukiru, which helped with the Live★Twin and Tenyi matchup.

With that being said, I am definitely upset about Ghost Gal's February 2024 rerun cards since Altergeist Kidolga is awful and Altergeist Pixiel is essentially a worse version of Meluseek. Konami, PLEASE give Altergeists more support! We need Altergeist Pookuery at the bare minimum. Memorygant would help too so I have an answer into Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Lunalight Leo Dancer, and other untargetable threats.

My past five games for the King of Games rankup were Yubel/Hero (Jaden Yuki), Tenyi (Weevil Underwood), Resonator (Jack Atlas), Live★Twins (Aster Phoenix), and Tenyi (Ghost Gal/Emma Bessho).

Replays

Overall, the run to King of Games felt really easy, but it does take a skilled pilot to play Altergeists well since once mistake on this deck could cost you the game and knowing how to get your core cards in rotation is critical in doing well on this deck. That being said, enjoy my best replay to learn the deck at a high level and how to pilot it well. This game was against Live★Twins and I went second into them.
