EXP Farming Guide
Hello and Welcome Duel Links Meta Fans! My Name is Jadehex, and I’m your residential Farm Expert. With each new Gem Piñata Legendary Duelist released for Duel Links, players have always asked me how to best farm for EXP. This Guide should provide you with everything you need to know about EXP and how to quickly level your Legendary Duelists to get their rewards!
Every Legendary Duelist you unlock has a level cap of either 45 (for DM and GX) or 35 (for 5Ds and DSOD). Each Win against a Standard Duelist,Legendary Duelist, or PVP opponent will give you 500 EXP towards your next Level (Using the x3 Multiplier gives you three times as much as much EXP). Vagabonds give you a substantially larger amount of EXP, much more than any singular Duel, however the exact amount varies depending on the Rank of the deck he’s using at the time. Conversely, losing the Duel provides half as much experience in either case. In addition, there are 1.5x EXP Campaigns that, as the name suggests, multiplies all your EXP gained by 1.5. The following table illustrates just how much EXP it takes to max out one character.

Not accounting for Vagabonds, it takes 565 Wins to max out a DSOD/5Ds Character, and 1265 Wins to max out a DM/GX Character. Obviously, with Auto-Dueling and the Reward Multiplier, you can significantly cut down the amount of time it takes to actually max out your characters, but Duel Links offers tools to make this process easier.
Vagrants
If you have the money to spend, Vagrants are the most time efficient way to Level your characters.
- After purchasing the Vagrant at the Shop, 6 Vagrants who give out more EXP than Standard Duelists will appear in Duel World.
- Vagrants will give out EXP in multiples of EXP that Standard Duelists give out, and the amount of EXP the Vagrants will be denoted by a multiplier number next to their name.
- The price of the Vagrant, as well as the amount of EXP Vagrants give out will be determined by how many times you have purchased the Vagrant. Details on the Vagrants that appear are below.
- Vagrants are unaffected by EXP Boosters and 1.5x EXP Campagins.
[1st - 2nd Purchase] The Vagrant (★): 2 Vagrants (x5 EXP), 1 Vagrant (x7 EXP), 1 Vagrant (x10 EXP), 1 Vagrant (x15 EXP), and 1 Vagrant (x20 EXP)
[3rd - 4th Purchase] The Vagrant (★★): 1 Vagrant (x7 EXP), 2 Vagrants (x10 EXP), 1 Vagrant (x15 EXP), 1 Vagrant (x20 EXP), and 1 Vagrant (x30 EXP)
[5th Purchase and Onward] The Vagrant (★★★): 1 Vagrants (x10 EXP), 1 Vagrant (x15 EXP), 2 Vagrants (x20 EXP), and 2 Vagrants (x30 EXP)
- Number of purchases will be reset every day.
- Vagrants will remain in Duel World until you defeat them. You cannot purchase the Vagrant at the Shop, as long as there are Vagrants in Duel World.

Bonus Duelist
Bonus Duelist is an item you can only purchase with Money that spawns a special Standard Duelist that can be Dueled 30 times. This is less efficient than Vagrants, and is generally not worth it because you also have access to Free-to-Play Duel Orbs that also spawn Standard Duelists. However if you absolutely need rewards that come exclusively from Standard Duelists, like event items, and are out of Duel Orbs, the Bonus Duelist also provides 15000 EXP.
EXP Booster
The EXP Booster is a free item that is given out for periodically through Events and Campaigns. They are also purchasable in bundles of 5 at the EX Shop during events for 50 EX Jewels. These add a bonus 50% EXP to your next Duel. However, this does not stack with the reward multiplier (If you use it on 3x Standard Duelists, you will get 500x3 + 250 EXP for a total of 1750 EXP). As such, the ideal time to use these items is when Dueling Vagabonds, as they offer the highest EXP from a single source (as they don’t work on Vagrants).
EXP Farming is the process of Dueling with the express intent of obtaining EXP. This is generally done by Dueling a Level 10 Duelist at the Gate using the x3 Reward Multiplier because they are extremely easy to beat and don’t require many resources to Duel. An EXP Farming Deck aims to end the Duel as Quickly as possible, in order to earn as much EXP as possible in the shortest amount of time. Obviously, EXP farming is most effective during 1.5x EXP Campaigns.
EXP Farming Decks
Skill-Less EXP Farming Deck
This is a general decklist that you would use to farm EXP. The aim of the deck is to push 4000 Damage on the first turn you’re able to attack as consistently as possible. It accomplishes this through easy to Summon monsters like Dynatherium, Gilasaurus, and Guardian Eatos, and highly damaging Spells like Back Up Rider, Blustering Winds, and Axe of Despair. The general philosophy of this deck is really simple, as all you need is easy-to-summon monsters, and spells that boost ATK points. As such, every card can be replaced with something cheaper if so desired, however this is the fastest version of the Deck.
Heavy Starter Deck
This deck runs 3 High-Level monsters that can be cheated out, and fills the rest of the deck with ATK Boosting Spells. With Heavy Starter, you’re guaranteed to open a monster you can summon and boost. Other monsters you can use are Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast and Genomix Fighter
Morphtronic Videon Deck
This Deck Aims to summon Morphtronic Videon and equip him with a bunch of Equip Spells, building a Videon with ludicrous ATK. While this can be ran Skill-Less, its more reccomended to use with a Skill like Draw Sense: LIGHT or Draw Sense: Low-Level.
I hope this guide has informed you about how EXP Farming works and how to go about it. Thank you for reading! If you need any additional help with Farming you can check out my Youtube or ask questions in the Farm Discussion channel in the DLM Discord. Cheers!
