In case you missed it, This Week’s Meta Weekly, we had our first tournament after the new banlist that heavily shook up the meta. This could be best exemplified by the finals, where we had a Desperado mirror between Grucius and Terrific, with Terrific coming out on top!
Anything you’d like to say about yourself?
I started playing Duel Links in February 2019 on a friend’s reccomendation. when the Ancient Gears structure deck was released and I started playing competitively half a year later. Before Duel Links, I only collected the cards as a kid and never really played Yu-Gi-Oh!.
How does it feel to win your first Meta Weekly?
It feels incredible! I worked so hard for this ever since I started to play competitively. My next goal is to take down an MCS!
How did the day go for you? Any notable matchups?
I was kind of lucky: I hit a lot of non-guaranteed Coin Flips with Ms. Judge. I was notably lucky against Herbel and his Crystrons, drawing into my System Down in both Game 2 and Game 3, otherwise I would have probably lost.
What do you think of the new banlist?
I really like the new banlist. The meta hadn’t changed for a year and this banlist opens the door for new good Xyz decks that we are hopefully getting soon.
Why did you go with Desperado?
I wanted to play a Deck that dosnt need much skill to play, because I had an exam the next day and studied for it during the tournament. I normally would have played Crystrons, but in the end Desparado was definitely the better choice, because its worst matchups (Crystrons and Invoked Cocytus) got nerfed.
Would you like to explain any of your Deck choices? Would you make any changes?
Lastly, do you have any shout-outs you would like to make?
Big shoutout to my clan Armades Army for supporting me! Also shoutout to all of the German Duel Links Twitch Streamers and the German Discord communities! Keep up the good work!
