Constellar – While this archetype has some interesting cards, especially Constellar Sombre, the speed and reliability this deck can get out Xyz’s is rather slow and easy to disrupt. It essentially needs Constellar Pollux to help you normal summon twice to trigger any combo’s. Their new generic Rank 6 monster Constellar Ptolemy M7 is very good, but better used in a deck that can easily make Rank 6s. You can make the Rank 6 from the Rank 4s, but since you can’t activate its effect that turn it’s generally better to stay on the Rank 4s. Fortunately, their Rank 4 monsters have solid effects with 1 boosting ATK and the other making Constellar Monsters immune to Spell / Traps. All of this results in Constellars needing general Trap support, making them another Trap Deck which will result in them not being meta

Hieratic – This deck got a few pieces of support. It got consistency boosts with their search Spell Hieratic Seal of Convocation, easy Special Summon in Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit, a boss monster in Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis (Althought Blue-Eyes will use it more), a unique Dragon searcher in Hieratic Dragon King of Atum that no other deck can currently utilize, and 2 Traps in Hieratic Seal of Banishment and Hieratic Seal of Reflection. However, this deck still lacks a plan - is it OTK or Control (these two plans don’t work well together)? To control, it sacrifices board presence (no follow-up combos) and to OTK it goes all-in and leaves itself vulnerable. However, this deck does have some interesting options to explore with Atum. Summoning any Dragon from the deck will likely be able to find some cool combos and I’ve seen some ideas here (like using Downbeat on a Level 6 Hieratic to go into Hieratic Dragon of Eset + any Normal Dragon to make a wide range of Xyz Monsters. In summary, this deck has potential, but will need to explore combos and be creative to have a real meta impact, likely KoG-worthy to start.

Satellarknight – All this box added for Satellarknights is Darktellarknight Batlamyus. Outside of Noble Knight and possibly Star Seraph I find this to be the best archetypal boost in the box. Satellarknights never had a problem getting out 2 monsters, it has always been that third one that caused issues. This monster now gets around that problem and allows easy Stellarknight Delteros Summons. Satellarknight Altair summon (with Satellarknight Deneb in GY) is now a 1-card Delteros, and while the weakness to backrow is certainly still there, I think this is a fantastic boost for the first Xyz archetype we got. I think this alone can bring Satellarknights to Popular KoG group, with a small chance of Tier 3.

Star Seraph – The make-or-break Deck of the box. By now you likely already know how insane the in-hand combo of “Stick and Chair” (Star Seraph Scepter + Star Seraph Sovereignty) is. It really is absurd, especially with Stellarknight Delteros, as the opponent can not respond to the pop or draw, and you can get another pop as well. However, this feels like it might be easy to disrupt and not consistent enough, since they are unable to make 2-material Xyz’s. I am honestly unsure how this deck will settle and I see the success of this deck being how people will judge this box in the future. If it’s good, people will say how good this box is, if it’s bad, people will say this box was bad.

Digital Bugs – An interesting F2P archetype that are all Commons / Rares from the new box. They specialize in activating effects when changing battle position and granting extra effects to their Xyz monsters when they are used as material. While they will likely hit KOG worthy and have some interesting cards / plays (especially Bug Signal, Bug Emergency, and their Xyz Monsters) I think they will heavily struggle in this meta as they don’t spam the field well enough without extra cards being used and I really can’t see Earthquake being the answer.

Noble Knights – The highest tiered deck with support in the current meta gets more support in this box. The big prize here for NK players is the new Xyz Sacred Noble Knight of King Custennin. This gives Noble Knights a non=destruction removal that it really needed and a great generic floating ability on top of that. Additionally, Noble Knight Pellinore and possibly Noble Knight Eachtar might see some play but they will be 1 of’s at most and neither will have a gigantic impact. Fortunately for the rest of the meta none of these new cards fix Noble Knights main weakness to disruption and that will remain as is for the time being. Noble Knights will either stay Tier 2 or get bumped into Tier 1. However, this will make them more of a target in tournaments which can cause issues for them in the immediate future.

Utopia – Number C39: Utopia Ray sucks Number 39: Utopia is much better. Wait for other Utopia support. I can’t see any reason you would ever run this right now. The Trap Halfway to Forever is decent as any deck that can get Level 4’s in GY suddenly have access to Utopia in Trap form which can be two huge attack negates in the Battle Phase.

Blue-Eyes – While receiving no direct support Blue-Eyes get a gigantic boost here with 2 quality Rank 8 monsters in Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis and Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison. Blue-Eyes often has dead monsters in their hand and now with Heliopolis they can use them all to destroy anything without targeting. If the opponent is running a deck that heavily utilizes Special Summoning from the GY or only has destruction effects than Number 68 is the perfect counter. With the upcoming addition of Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, getting Rank 8’s will be easier than. A very big addition to this current Tier 3 deck that could easily move up the list after Alternative and these Xyz’s are released.

Kagetokage – Inverse Tin Goldfish so you can get your Normal Summon monster effects and still get a Level 4 out for an Xyz play/ With no other special effects I don’t see this being very relevant any time soon.

Rescue Rabbit – The bait card of the box. At this time I find the only deck that can utilize this to its fullest is Gladiator Beasts. Outside of that deck this will bust causing you to run too many Normal Monsters and later drawing into more rabbits which will be complete bricks by that point. Additionally, it is not an on-summon effec, so it will be easy to disrupt going second.

Chaos Dragon Levianeer – What more is there to say? You’ve played it or faced it already. It’s an incredibly strong card. Any deck with LIGHTs and DARKs should consider running it.

Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger – A really unique card that will see use in many decks that have Rank 5 or 6 Monsters. This might be the most-used card of the box down the line and definitely worth grabbing one for current and future deckbuilding.

Parsec, the Interstellar Dragon – Could be interesting in decks that can Special Summon Level 8’s (Like Blue-Eyes), allowing you to Normal Summon this to make a Rank 8 monster. I don’t expect it to be used but it’s one of the more interesting rares.

Schwarzschild Limit Dragon – Dead Turn 1 but fairly easy to get on the board after that. A fairly decent effect I could see some potential uses for it in Rank 8-based decks.

Overall, the box has some great generic Xyz’s, one of the best monsters in the game in Levianeer, and some solid archetypal cards for Noble Knights, Constellar, and Satellarknights. However, I do still feel the overall success of this box will ride on Star Seraph. If you’re willing to wait for results you can wait to see if they’re good, otherwise can go through the box one time to get you everything you need. I’ve never done a box review before, hope you enjoyed it!

The new box doesn’t have many Rank 4s that can be used in any deck but it has cards that improve some decks. I’d rate this box a A-B Tier Main Box; the only main boxes I’d rate S-tier are Future Horizon and Judgement Force. Here is a review for all the URs and SRs in the box:

Ultra Rare

Number C39: Utopia Ray: This card is related to Number 39: Utopia. The normal way to summon this card is by using the original Utopia as material. Onomats don’t need this card because it effects can only be activated when you have 1000 LP which doesn’t happen often. This card can only be good when Utopia has no materials because it destroys itself when attacked with no materials.

Constellar Ptolemy M7: This card has an effect to let it return a monster from the field or grave to the hand. This card will most likely be used in Onomats because they can make Rank 6 Xyz Monsters with ease. It could be summoned with the new Constellar Omega but then it can’t use its effect until the turn ends.

Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis: This card can be used in Blue-Eyes as an extra non-targeting destruction card for the deck. This card will be easier to summon because Konami will give us a free Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon. This card can be summoned with Acient Rules, Blue-Eyes Alternative, and Blue-Eyes White Dragon. You can tribute this card with its own effect, meaning the destruction is guaranteed.

Darktellarknight Batlamyus: This card is just an easy way to summon Stellarknight Delteros. This card also has an effect that turns every monster on the field into DARK monsters. It was used with Satellarknight Constellar Diamond which negates DARK monsters (but we don’t have access to that combo yet). If you have 7 or more Satellarknight names in the grave it can Xyz summon a LIGHT tellarknight as a Quick Effect. By doing that it can escape targeting effects.

Star Seraph Scepter: This card has potential. There has something call the “Stick and Chair” combo with Star Seraph Sovereignty. When you summon a Star Scepter you can Summon Sovereignty from your hand then Draw 1 card. If an Xyz Monster is Xyz Summoned with 3 Star Seraph Scepter that Xyz Monster gains 3 effects, starting a huge chain on summon. Right now, I don’t think there are decks that can play this card.

Kagetokage: This card has an effect that lets you Special Summon it from the hand when you Normal Summon a Lvl 4 monster. This card can be used in any Xyz deck to summon a Rank 4.

Rescue Rabbit: This card can be used in decks that have 2 or more Level 4 Normal Monsters. There are not many decks that use Lvl 4 aside from Gladiator Beasts. This can make 3-material Gladiator Beast Fusions easier to summon. It can even lead to an instant Xyz summon of a rank 1-4. It’s also unaffected by Fiendish Chain since it leaves the field as a cost.

Chaos Dragon Levianeer: More people can play it now that it is in a main box. This card can be used in decks that can easily mill LIGHT and DARK monsters to the grave like Thunder Dragons and Lightsworn. It could even be used in Black Luster Soldier if you have Beginning of Heaven and Earth in hand. Levianeer is as good as it because of its non-targeting destruction effect.

Hieratic Seal of Convocation: This box has a lot of Hieratic support so there is plenty to search for. This card will be played at 3 to increase its consistency.

Super Rare

Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon: This card’s effect destroys all other monsters on the field by detaching 3 materials, which is good because when you summon this card you will have no monsters on your field. You can only activate its second effect by attaching Xyz Material to it, and you can only do that with Overlay Regen and Spirit Converter.

Hieratic Dragon King of Atum: This card seems good because by using its effect you could possibly summon another Xyz. This card will certainly make Hieratic a lot better especially since they brought a lot of Hieratic support in this box.

Sacred Noble Knight of King Custennin: This card just made Noble Knights a whole lot better. This card can deal with troublesome monsters like Desperado Barrel Dragon and monsters with higher ATK than your Noble Knights. It can return as many as 3 cards to the hand. And when this card is destroyed you can summon another noble Knight Xyz monster from the Extra Deck and then attach itself as material. Even when this card has no materials it’s insanely good. People will play this card at 2 or 3.

Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger: This card is not that good and I don’t think it can be used competitively. You can summon this card by using Rank 5 or 6 Xyz. It would be wise to Xyz Summon this card with a Rank 6 or 5 with no materials and 2500 or less ATK.

Constellar Pollux: This card is pretty good since it has no restriction whatsoever and it makes an instant Rank 4 Xyz. This card is just like Evilswarm Castor allowing you to summon monsters from their archetypes and make xyz summon much easier. The Constellar archetype can make 3 Material Xyz Monsters since there’s more than one Constellar that can provide an additional summon.

Constellar Sombre: This card can allow you to summon a Constellar with one less tribute. This could make Constellar Ptolemy M7 much easier to summon. Its second effect gives you an additional summon of a Constellar monster. Overall, this card is pretty good people will play this card at 2 because its effect can be difficult to resolve.

Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit: This card can make Hieratics Top Tier. If you go second and Special Summon it then tribute it for a Level 6 Hieratic monster you can Special Summon another Dragon=type monster from the deck this could lead to a Rank 6 Hieratic Dragon King of Atum. You can then summon another Dragon type from the deck; all from just this 1 card, and it can be searched by Hieratic Seal of Convocation. It’ll get its effect if tributed by anything, even when tributed by Enemy Controller or Ritual Spells

Noble Knight Pellinore: This card is also very good monster removal as it destroys an opponent’s monster and your equip card. But when the equip cards are destroyed they come right back so you could use this effect repeatedly if you managed to keep it on the field. This card will be played at 1 or 2 copies, since Noble Knights have a lot of monster removal already.

Star Seraph Sovereignty: As I mentioned above, this card goes very well with Star Seraph Scepter. This card goes together with it because Scepter Adds a Star Seraph card from the deck to the hand then you can Special Summon this card from the hand then draw a card. If you have both these 2 cards you can gain a lot of card advantage.

Hi-Five the Sky: This card is not half bad, but it could have been way better if it was a Quick-Play Spell. Its effect makes an Xyz attack twice while stopping your opponent from activating effects. It can be used in any Xyz deck and can turn your Xyz into a double-attacking Armades, Keeper of Boundaries. People will play this card at 0 to 2 copies because it can be a potential brick at 3.

The New Box is here, and it brings some interesting cards and a reprint from a Selection Box:

Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis: This card is really good and it can be easily summoned by Hieratics and Blue-Eyes, and offers non-targeting destruction. Hieratics aside, I believe this card would be good as a 1x in Blue-Eyes Extra Decks.

Rescue Rabbit: This card was meta-defining in the TCG, but I feel like here in Duel Links it’s not gonna have that much of an impact, you could use this in a Gladiator Beast Deck or in any deck to make an instant Rank 4 or lower Xyz Monsters, maybe I cannot see other use for it, but it definitely has future potential.

Chaos Dragon Levianeer: Levianeer is finally here, this card is a must If you want to play Thunder Dragons optimally, it can be used multiple different decks that have LIGHT / DARK Monsters, and lets you destroy 2 cards without targeting.

Hieratic Seal of Convocation: This box brought some interesting Hieratic support, this card will probably be a 3x to play in Hieratic decks, as a searcher that’s not once per turn. I can think of another card that made an Archetype Top Tier, Banishment of the Darklords, Hieratics could have top tier potential with the support from this box.

Sacred Noble Knight of King Custennin: Noble Knights are already a Free-to-Play Top Tier deck with the new Structure Deck. This new support is a good addition to the deck, and could adjust some bad matchups that Noble Knights has while also helping against Desperado Barrel Dragon (even though they already have a favourable match up), as it’s nice to bounce the DARK Machine to deny the summon. The good news is that you only have to go through this box once to get 1 or 2 copies of this Xyz Monster.

Hieratic Seal of Reflection: By reading this Counter Trap, it seems to be really good to me. Most Hieratics get value when tributed, so this card could be played as a one-of.

Specific Cards

Kagetokage - comes to my mind and most people mind “oh great another Tin Goldfish” but he is worse beacause you cannot use him for synchros. Just another tool for Xyz.

Star Seraph Scepter - the searcher for the Star Seraphs archetype, also has an extra effect when used as Xyz Material.

Rescue Rabbit - a card that completely changed the TCG meta for a while. Will it have the same effect on Duel Links? No, not until better generic Rank 4 Xyz have dropped.

Number C39: Utopia Ray - a hard skip, probably the worst Utopia there is.

Constellar Ptolemy M7 - an amazing Constellar xyz, with the effect to target and bounce a card in either player’s graveyard or field. 100% run at 2 or more.

Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis - Finally! The Rank 8 Blue-Eeyes have been waiting for. To me this card is definitely a card you’ll need to get if you main Blue-Eyes. Non-targeting destruction, enough said.

Hieratic Seal of Convocation - A 3-of in Hieratic decks, plain and simple.

Darktellarknight Batlamyus - Why even take the time to make him in duel? You make him to summon Stellarknight Delteros who pops a backrow but then gets stopped by another. You’ll never activate his effect on your opponent’s turn - having 7 names in the GY is too restrictive.

Chaos Dragon Levianeer - no need to talk about this GOD card, the trump card for Thunder Dragons’s, the optimal way to play Blue-Eyes and Lightsworn.

Sacred Noble Knight of King Custennin - The only SR that matters. Imagine starting with a “brick hand’ with cards like Noble Knight Brothers, Noble Knight Drystan and Noble Knight Pellinore (Basically any hand basically not starting with Merlin orNoble Knight Medraut. Summon the Brothers, use its effect to special summon the other two Noble Knights from hand then summon Custennin, who is basically Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier on steroids. This card alone I believe will finally make Noble Knights a Tier 1 deck!

Noble Knight Pellinore - the combos you can do with this guy are crazy. I’m for sure running this guy at least 1. He’s an Drystan without the trigger.

Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison - sneakily good if anybody knows, it’s a Vanity’s Fiend but only for GY Summons. It also can’t be destroyed by Card Effects.

Schwarzschild Limit Dragon and Parsec the Interstellar Dragon - Rank 8 Turbo cards to bring out Hieratic Sun Dragon of Heliopolis. I’m guessing they can be Side Deck techs.

Constellars-has its staples, spells, and traps. I don’t believe it has the potential to be an actual meta deck but I do believe with Constellar Ptolemy M7 and the other Xyz’s I can see it being a great Rogue deck.

Digital Bugs - these sneaky little bugs might surprise people; this archetype actually has some spice. Digital Bug Rhinosebus and Digital Bug Corebage are some spicy Xyz’s. Rhinosebus is the big beater of the Archetype with an effect to destroy all monsters your oppnent controls with the highest DEF. Corebage is an small beater with 1800 ATK which has the effect to bounce your opponent’s Defence Position monster. It also has another effect once it destroys an monster by battle to attach Insect monsters from the Graveyard as material. Another great potential KOG deck.

Hieratics - the highest potential I believe, but just like with Blue-Eyes you can easily brick with this archetype. If want to run this deck pure its going to very expensive as 2 of the main cards are UR and another 2 of them are SR, all of which will be ran at 2 or 3 copies.

Star Searphs - a lot of people are saying this has the highest potential. I’m thinking its another Hazy Flame, but the difference is with Searphs you can use them for any generic Rank 4’s and gain their effects. However, I feel that until we get cards like Abyss Dweller or Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer they won’t be as good.

Final Thoughts

I’ve been playing Duel Links since it first dropped. Konami almost always drops an amazing box at the end of every year, and I feel like they did it again. Actually good archetypes, more support for a strong Noble Knight Xyz deck, one of the best generic Rank 8s, and Chaos Dragon Levianeer himself. I will go in this box for three of each. If you just want Sacred Noble Knight of King Custennin get two copies, because you need him.
